Re: No sound in saved project on Panther
Did you keep the 1.2.4 installer? The .dmg file? I keep all those in an archive folder against the time when I need to reinstall something from zero. I did the upgrade to 1.2.6 on my G4 PowerBook and never noticed any trouble at all. Have you ever done a Verify Disk and Repair Permissions on your ma...

Re: Audacity for Mac less powerful than Audacity for Windows
All Mac audio files are AIFC. AIFF-Compressed. That's how they got around the Big Endian/Little Endian thing (they're not really compressed). Audacity is supposed to recognize and work with them...at least mine does. I'll need to open this up again when I get back home. Bring me up. You have Leopard...

Re: Mixing distortion!
Having said all that, you are going to get two hits. The quality should be very, very good and oddball production problems should go away. The down side is the transmission and storage problem. Clear, perfect, uncompressed WAV files take up significant space. Be ready for a four or five times larger...

Re: Pops in CD
I have a free Music CD recording/authoring program that refuses to manage mono sound files. What happens if you produce two or three short sound segments in 44100, 16-bit, Stereo, Export As WAV and try to make a Music CD from those?

Re: downgrading from 1.3.8 to 1.3.7?
Or maybe not. I have two requirements that use different 1.3 versions on two different Mac boots. The regular, boot from the system drive, check the email, OS is Tiger running 1.2.5 and 1.3.6 just because that was the last one I installed and it seems to be reliable enough to do what I want. 1.2.5 i...

Yes, it seems the search engines don't know JACK.
There is a particularly unfortunately named company that makes very high quality audio electronic components. It's called THAT. I know one person in a row that's ever been able to find the company through Google.

Re: BAdly need help!! Audacity crashes after recording!
Hutchie wrote me a very long and detailed summary of his complaint...in an email. I stressed I was a lot better with Mac problems and he needed to post the whole mail back out on the forum for the enjoyment of the Windows people.

Re: mp3 and file size
<<<To write out the file, I selected the entire sound, and then clicked File > Export Selection as MP3.>>> Had you exported your show as WAV, the filesize would have gotten smaller--or changed. Audacity isn't good with converting between standards, and you may not want to. Most compressors including...

Re: Saving audio to video
QuickTime Pro will let you marry two different files--picture and sound. Anybody doing any serious video or audio work should have a QuickTime Pro license. It's as close as you can get to a universal Get Out Of Jail card. Most video editors will let you do that, too, but we assume they're more expen...
