Re: Difficulty with Recovered Files

It may be for naught. The latest generation of recovery tools do a really good job of reconstructing the shards and fragments of your crashed capture into a single show. It used to be you could do a better job using exotic, manual tools, but not any more. When Audacity crashes, the machine becomes t...

Contrary to the labels, Stable 1.2.5 on Mac/Leopard/Intel isn't stable. There are known issues with this combination. Mac/Tiger/Intel works fine and I use that combination, but probably shouldn't. Upgrade to 1.3.7. You can have both 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only launch and use one ...

Re: Intermediate Reverse

Say that again and use different words. Half way between playing forward and playing backward is zero. No sound.

Re: how to recreate stereo image

<<<Converting the track from stereo to mono does centre the vocals.>>> Third time. If the vocals are part of an otherwise normal stereo musical presentation with musical instruments left and right, you're stuck. You can't lift the vocals out and put them back in wherever you want. The mono route is ...

Re: WAV bit rate

Amazing but true. 32-bit floating has been the standard format in Audacity 1.3 and 1.2. It burns people all the time and that's one of the things you need to change almost immediately if you're going to do simple editing or captures. There was something about trying to convert inside Audacity -- it'...

The "beta" version of Audacity, 1.3.7, is much more stable than the stable version, so you should use that.

Re: problems with simple cutting and pasting

<<<When you click inside the blue waveforms, does the cursor "stick" and does Audacity start playing from that point when you press the spacebar?>>> Does. That. Work? Reinstalling a damaged Audacity 1.2 on a Windows machine may not do you any good at all. This is the worst Audacity version...

Re: VOICE Recording??

Our headset microphones are Sennheiser C 555 L with the hip pack battery. They're hypercardoid so you do have to get the pickup capsule just right. We use the foam covering. I bought a box of sealed alcohol wipers and I swab it down at the end of each show. Many different people use this microphone....

Re: DeActivate. I got the swing!

I don't know. Too much gold isn't particularly good, either. I'll go with what's there for the present. It may have been a problem when we had that Troll Storm earlier, but onesies and twosies is workable.
