Re: bad recording
Since you're on a Mac, I personally would have connected the output of the tape machine to the high quality, stereo, Line-In of my Mac instead of the USB thing. It's the connector with the circle and two black arrows. Which Mac have you got? Question Format http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/questio...

Re: What Is The Purpose/Theory Of Dynamic Compression?
I would divide it up into a lot finer pieces than that. This process has been going on for a very long time. Clippers/Limiters. These are the shock troups of audio processing. Everything over a certain level gets cut off. Not reduced, but brutally whacked off. You can achieve this effect by amplifyi...

Re: Announcer Voice
No kidding. Cut you and the announcer together and listen to what they sound like. Most people have no idea what they sound like and it's stunning the first time they appear on mic. Then try to stamp out the errors. Most people talk in a flat monotone or nasal delivery. That's deadly. Go crazy. Move...

Re: recording itunes radio remove high pitch tone
One of the problems with the generic forums down here is that we have to start asking you stuff...like which Audacity do you have? Are you using a software package like Total Recorder to record shows, or did you follow the process to record Mix-Out or What-U-Hear? Have you ever used the Noise Reduct...

Re: Recording Noise
I have a sound card that creates a DC level when I record. DC Bias leaking into the sound can make editing pretty much impossible -- everything clicks and pops -- and fixing it in post is very painful and time consuming. See what happens if you remove DC Bias from capture segments before you start t...

Re: Silent "recovered" track
<<<I still don't know what happened when it failed the first time ( audio visible on track OK - but silent ) as I did exactly the same thing this time.>>>
I got tired of Windows machines doing that to me and started using Macs. That doesn't happen nearly as often now.

Re: Intermediate Transformation
<<<So basically, if you had two different songs...which would sound really cool and freaky.>>> It would sound chaotic is what it would do. You can morph back and forth between several different people singing the same song. That was done most recently in the "Let's Get Together" thing some...
Re: Sound
"Vocal Removal" is a very abbreviated name that covers a lot of activities and conditions. One of the conditions is that the show not be in mono. You can have two tracks and still have a mono show -- the same thing exactly on left and right. Also known as two-track mono. The tool works by ...
