Re: Recording a DJ mix using Serato

Make sure your connection is clean at both ends. Rub with alcohol or Windex glass cleaner and paper towel and then dry it off with another one. Plug and replug a couple of times and give the connection a half-turn.

Re: Recording a DJ mix using Serato

Seratos fail when you try to plug their Line Level analog sound into the microphone input of your computer. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8478&p=38444#p34285 If you have a deskside PC computer with a Stereo Line-In connection (blue?) that should work. PC Laptops tend to ...

Re: Recording Sets to laptop

Line-In is stereo and expecting an audio signal roughly a thousand times louder than a microphone. Also the microphone input is mono. It may appear on both left and right, but it's only one signal -- two track mono.

Certain characters are magic in computers. We warn people to only use upper case and lower case letters, numbers, and the dash and underline. That's it. If Windows thinks one of your file name characters is anything else, then it will become unstable. For example, "MyMusic" is not a filena...

Re: Light Blue/Dark Blue coloring of Track Waveform

Aloha, The outer one reflects the peak values and I believe the inner one is the RMS or average power value. Aren't you glad you asked? The peak values more or less are reflected in a digital peak sound meter or more broadly in a BBC PPM sound instrument. The average, or lower values would be the re...

Re: Split recording for long recordings....

OK, well lets forget the two hour long "Due Serpenti di Canto" for a minute and record a nice fifteen second piece to mess with. Put a label at the Beginning of each segment you want as a stand-alone export. In this example it would be about three or five seconds each. File > Export Multip...

Re: mixer

You left out a few concepts there. Why would you need the sound mixer if you're providing written words for sale?

Re: Mixing Board Software

<<<Is there a way to get around this?>>> Not that we ever found. Once you grow beyond one microphone or sound service, you either need external mixers or a second computer. Skype and Vonage have their own problems. Usually one computer does that and nothing else. One service offers its own capture s...

Re: Missing Words in recording

Can you make it worse? Is there any setting that will give you more dropped words or other distortion? You can get problems like this if your super-vigilant Anti Virus Software is trying to inspect every single thing that's written to the hard drive. That will kill Audacity in a big hurry. Disconnec...

Re: bad recording

Just to cover the bases, you can also get problems like this if you're filling up your hard drive.

Go > Computer > System Drive
File > Get INFO.

No System drive should ever increase beyond 90% full.
