Re: Sure SM7B sounds muddy with sharp sibilance.

SM7B_Solo.mp3 That's impossible. I expect that setup to give you a flat waveform in Audacity. I need a single XLR cable between the SM7b and the Solo with the Solo 48v turned off. I expect the Solo to only give Audacity modest waveforms with the Gain almost all the way up. It doesn't matter if that...

Re: REC level pinned to max

Just ordinary music mp3 files from Youtube That's not "ordinary." To do that you have to cross the play and record systems in your computer. While that's desirable, it's not normal. If you adjust your system to do that, you have the risk of a feedback loop like in a club band when they ge...

Re: Sure SM7B sounds muddy with sharp sibilance.

Plug the Lifter directly into the Solo and leave out the DBX286S pre-amp. You should turn on the Solo 48v phantom power because the Lifter need it. Record a test. Do Not plug the SM7b directly into the Solo with 48v on. Then, as a test, disconnect everything, turn off the 48V on the Solo and plug th...

Re: Sure SM7B sounds muddy with sharp sibilance.

That's really annoying, isn't it? The ice-pick in the ear sound. What's fascinating about this is the SM7b is a 'dynamic' microphone. That means it's a moving coil and magnet type and they don't do that. That sound error is happening somewhere else or from a mismatch in the microphone chain somewher...

Re: Recovering moved files

If all you did was move things around, you may just have to find the _DATA folder and move it next to the AUP file. They have to be close to each other. The AUP file won't go looking for it.

Re: Recovering moved files

This is a project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg Note the basic names are the same. You can open the AUP file in a text editor such as Notepad (don't save anything). The contents should look something like this. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/aupFileGra...

Re: Recording Zoom and Skype and Facebook Messenger

The desperation method is establish your call on the computer and set your phone in the middle of the table recording the room.

Re: Recording Zoom and Skype and Facebook Messenger

There's always dropping the idea of one computer. I did a very good Skype connection with two. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PodCast_Studio_WS-600.jpg Music, Audacity, Research, Recording, Notes and what-all are on the left. Skype is on the right. It thinks it's king of the world—and I did...

Re: Recording Zoom and Skype and Facebook Messenger

it only records my microphone That's because your microphone is a service of your computer. Their sound is a service of Zoom, Skype, and Messenger which hates to share. They're not necessarily evil, but their job is to keep all these bi-directional voices from interfering with each other, plus echo...
