Re: Records come back very quiet
<<<Now I got a new computer with Vista>>> Vista closed a lot of the fuzzy things that older Windows versions let you get away with. Permissions issues come up almost immediately when older programs try to step on directories and folders that they're not supposed to. The up side of that is you're muc...

Re: recording itunes radio remove high pitch tone
Did you by any chance try to install 1.3 while 1.2 was still running? That would create all kinds of problems.

Re: recording cassette
Oh, sure. I would change Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Music CDs like that. When you're finished recording one tape, stop Audacity and Export As WAV. This will give you your Capture Master sound file. You might want to copy that file to a second drive for safety. Then play the recor...

Re: Buzzing
I bet the buzzing goes way down if you run the laptop on batteries. Does it? The vast majority of Windows laptops don't have a "Line-In" connection and that's what the mixer is asking for. Most Windows laptops have Mic-In which is expecting a signal about a thousand times smaller than you'...

Re: WAV files exported from Audacity are not bit-identical
So this happens with straight WAV to WAV? Then the FLAC is irrelevant. We're talking simple import/export errors.
Does it get progressively worse? Keep making a new import/export with the last pass's export.

Re: Wave Out Mix?
There are several new laptops on record that lock out your ability to record the computer's sound feed; "Mix-Out." I think the only way out of that restriction is Total Recorder. http://www.highcriteria.com/ There may be a way to plug a jumper cable between the laptop Line-Out and the Line...

Re: Realtek HD and recording through Line-In - How?
Does it say anywhere in clear English or unmistakable icons that you have a Line-In? According to the RealTek web site (and depending on which board you actually have), all the inputs and outputs can be configured to do whatever you need -- and probably mow the lawn and make coffee if you want. Howe...

Re: How to remove lyrics from music
Vocal Removal is harder to do than you would think. There are a lot of rules -- like the show has to be in stereo and the singer has to be in the middle with no echo or special effects -- and and generally, MP3 compressed files have problems doing it. But here are the tools: Voice Removal or Isolati...

Re: Problems generating tones in 1.3.7
It's annoying, but all the generators do that. Generate > Silence is my personal favorite. Control-E will zoom you in to your generated signal (it remains selected internally) and Control-3 will zoom out slightly. That's usually about where you want to be. It turns out not zooming out full creates p...
