Re: Editing two files from different sources - speed distort
<<<So obviously the recordings were captured at different speeds.>>> Different sample rates, not different speeds. Music CD audio is done at 44100 and television audio is 48000. They both carry one minute of sound in 60 seconds, but not if you try to jam them onto the same timeline. If the first one...

Re: Recording driver for vista
Windows XP is a mature, stable operating system with support for billions of sound devices and help from support people all over the world. Vista isn't and doesn't. I can even tolerate and use XP machines at work.
Vista is the best thing that ever happened to Macintosh.

Re: voice recording over mp3
We might be gazing intently in the wrong place. What happens if you start Audacity cold and record your voice on a fresh timeline with no other audio? <<<I have imported an MP3>>> That's a bell ringer right there. Unless you have Windows File Extensions enabled which most people don't, you're taking...

Re: Locks up my sound completely
I can picture you downloading the wrong Audacity. The older G4 machine took Audacity 1.2.6. Your newer Intel iMac takes Audacity 1.2.5. D'Oh! It gets worse. Audacity 1.2.5, Leopard, and Intel Mac is a known unstable combination. Trash Audacity. Go find your audacity.cfg and trash that. Get Audacity ...

Re: saved files as WAV - problem - Please help.
My guess is nobody has any idea what's wrong. I don't. Let's fish. <<<save to export WAV selection >>> We warn people to get the words right because they're different in Audacity. Audacity Saves Projects which are an internal management system, but Exports to WAV and MP3 sound files. Audacity doesn'...

Re: Noise in track after using some effects
Yes, and there can be several causes. The top one is DC or battery voltage mixed into the show. You can remove DC from all your clips before editing in 1.2 with Effect > Normalize > Remove DC (deselect everything else). 1.3 users it's either under Effect > Utilities or just Effect. The tool wanders ...

Re: Is there some way to draw an envelope for the pitch??
I don't know any way to even simulate this in Audacity. Maybe one of the other helpers will know. Remember a question has to ripple around the earth once.

Re: Still No "Sustain" Effect?
"Sustain" does change the way the note sounds, but it does it in a way you're used to hearing.
I agree. There have been several postings wanting this. I would post in the Feature Request part of the forum.
