Re: Wave out recording sounding bad
<<<it gives the sound a kind of echo-y, "live" quality that I don't want.>>> Unless you got everything set exactly right, you're also recording Audacity output which will be late and give the odd sound. This isn't as easy as you think. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/ind...

Re: Edirol issues
<<<I cant uninstall it properly.>>> By "it" you mean Audacity, then you almost certainly did it wrong. You "reinstall" Audacity by finding and trashing the audacity.cfg file. Maybe here... /User/koz/Library/Application Support/Audacity/audacity.cfg Start or Restart Audacity and i...

First, please note that it's a volunteer forum and questions have to ripple around the earth. Literally. There's nine time zones difference between SteveTheFiddle and me. It doesn't make the slightest difference if the _data folder is "right there" or not. The "real" location of ...
Re: error2
You can Export a sound file to your desktop, or Save an Audacity Project -- which is not a sound file.
File names should only have upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore. That's it. Any other characters, like punctuation marks will drive the system nuts.

Re: Exporting clips longer than 2 hours?
Are you trying to program the background music for a drugstore/chemist? <<<1 hour-2 hour long tracks.>>> I couldn't find any natural reason that this would fail, so we'll start looking for unnatural ones. Where did the original tracks come from? This process can take an enormous amount of room on yo...

Re: Edirol issues
Unless otherwise told to, a good place to start with problems like this is to set everything to the Music CD data standard; 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Set that in Audacity > Preferences, restart, and temporarily start a new project. Then go into Go > Utilities > Audio-Midi Setup and make sure the same t...

Re: Need help with iCONNEX, natch!
You probably want to export perfect quality WAV files and burn them to a CD. Then convert or Export the show to MP3 for your iPod. MP3 damages the quality. WAV doesn't. If that's what you're really doing, I would change my Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's the Music CD sound stan...

<<<UCA200 USB>>>
<<<the monitor/headphone volume was extremely low, and had a steady bit of white noise in the background.>>>
This screams USB connection failure. Change the cable and plug it into a different connection in the computer.

Re: Noise cancellation in voice recordings - please help
Fortunately, there is a tutorial written to address this.

We do warn people that the noise reduction in Audacity 1.3 is enormously better than the one in 1.2.
