Re: Waveform

<<<Hi, I just downloaded the latest nightly build and I think I found a bug.>>>

The latest nightly build of what? 1.3.7, 1.3.8, 1.4.0?

You may have found a problem. It's a bug when 500 other people find the same problem.

We'll look. Thanx.

Re: sharing audacity files btwn Mac & Windows

Audacity is a really simple editor and edit manager and doesn't do file transfer or sharing. So we have two problems. People have managed to push Audacity Projects between different computers, but that's more likely to cause tummy troubles and splitting headaches than beautiful music. So your best b...

Re: Molding a tone to a given audio sample (matching silence

From looking at the original waveforms, you might also benefit from some "fake samples." It takes a couple of pulses for the system to settle in, so putting two or three "fake" pulses ahead of the valuable data would cause the settling to happen on the known lead-in set and not t...

Re: Error in recording??

Something may have changed in the background to "help you out." Do you have Windows set to Auto Update? Then Windows is constantly changing back there. Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O Is there is a setting for "Play track while recording" and is it checked? My USB microphone will ...

<<<I bought a new truck a couple of years ago and the player there had the "CD Text" capability - Disc title or track title.>>> I wondered about that. Nobody here could come up with any way at all to do this, so it's not widely supported. We assume you don't get 80 minutes of music any mor...

Re: Trouble with getting LAME Encoder

You don't need Audacity to create MP3 files. You can Export a WAV file and convert it in Super and you can set up iTunes Import to create MP3s for free. That should get you rolling while you/we figure out the lame library problem.

Re: Removing background noise

Did you try that clever editing trick from above where you select the whistle and Edit > Silence. Select and copy and a snippet of crowd noise and lay it into the hole left by the Silence tool. Repeat for each whistle. You can lay the new crowd snippet on a second timeline and fade it in and out or ...

Re: Will not pause in recording

Latest 1.3.7, Leopard OS-X 10.5. Recording from the Line-In on an Intel Mac Mini with a Shure sound mixer and built-in slate microphone. Mine pauses recording, but it doesn't stop the bouncing sound meter. Do you actually get the timeline cursor continuing to move during Pause? If so, you may have s...
