Re: Huge file - can't see or delete, but created by Audacity
The first thing I'd be doing is telling Windows to show me everything. In file and folder options, it should be possible to uncheck "Hide File Extensions" and "Hide Critical System Files" and I think there are one or two others. These "valuable options" are Microsoft's ...

Re: Annoying New Hiss
<<<return to the hiss-free environment that I had when I first started using Audacity?>>> Also when you first started using your USB turntable? Your throw-away USB turntable? "This worked on the first few vinyl records and now I have noise on the recordings." No shortage of complaints like...

Re: vocals track
If you don't already have a multi-track of the performance, the chances are overwhelming good that you're not going to get one from a software package. There is an impressive list of reasons the software will fail. You started with an MP3, the talent has echo, the talent has stereo effects, the tale...

Re: How to make mic level same as MP3 track
<<<more about this than most given your background?)>>> My background is television news. Last I checked, Andrea Mitchell doesn't need pitch correction. <<<The MP3 is a home recording by someone else.>>> Are you trying to do that thing where two people work on the same song, one in Cleveland and the...

Re: Seperate Audio & Video
Audacity doesn't recognize video file formats. You need to produce the sound tracks as divorced, separate files before editing.

Re: Using Labels to cut VERY long files
Oh, one other point. Never use MP3 anywhere in the process. Stick with WAV files and make Windows Media (or iTunes, etc.) do all the heavy lifting. MP3 has problems making precision sound files.

Re: Using Labels to cut VERY long files
<<<Is there a faster way to accomplish this task? Has anyone used the plugin to remove the gaps?>>> Wait. The gaps? Oh, you mean the 2-second gaps between songs. The Music CD authoring program has to do that. You can't do it in pre-production. All really good Music CD authoring programs have the abi...

Re: Using Labels to cut VERY long files
Right at the top of the list is don't use MP3 compression anywhere. MP3 was never intended for precision work and it has some significant problems if you try. Did you try it and did you experience problems? Whichever Music CD Authoring Program you use has to be able to manage the standard between-so...

Re: Noise reduction help, please!
Noise reduction only works on noises that are actually in the background, not covering up the performance, and it only works on noises that don't change. Constant air conditioner noise or electronics hum or hiss are perfect candidates for noise removal. Traffic noise, room conversations or echoes ar...

Re: Raindrop recording background effects
So I was right the first time. You might be able to get this effect by recording the computer's Mix-Out or What U Hear. This is buried in the Windows control panels unless you have Vista.
