Re: Doing a simple edit

The tools in Audacity 1.2 only work when there is some audio selected on the timeline. Edit > Select > All if you want a tool to apply to the whole show.

Re: Editing Concert Audio

<<<I understand there is no quick fix to make the audio sound like a million bucks>>> I can make it sound like $4.37. Here's a clip before and after... http://www.kozco.com/cher/May6thLIABFilter.mp3 And here's how to set the graphic equalizer tool in Audacity 1.3 to do it yourself. http://www.kozco....

Re: Light Blue/Dark Blue coloring of Track Waveform

Actually, the two-tone blue turns out to be a trick of the graphic. If you zoom in, it goes away and it's different on each computer's graphic display system. The two-tone bouncing lights sound meter, now those mean different things. <<<Is there any way of removing just the light blue part and leavi...

Re: Gain Envelope?

You may consider the Envelope Tool, just to the right of the "I" beam in the upper left of the work window.

Re: Audacity Quits Unexpectedly When Importing

We should probably break this up into chunks to figure out which chunk is in trouble.

Pull down the six second Piano2.wav from here...

...and see if it loads and plays everywhere.

Does it?

Re: Combined 2 songs

Screeches or squeals almost always means you tried to play a song type that Audacity doesn't understand. Convert in Super or Switch to WAV before you try to edit. Audacity isn't a very good converter and many songs on the internet now are music types other than MP3.

Re: Projects sped up?

"My [project/song/clip] plays way too fast." is almost always caused by incorporating a compressed clip or audio segment that Audacity doesn't understand. This is much more likely to happen in Audacity 1.2 than 1.3, but it affects both. Convert everything to a graceful format (WAV is good)...

Re: Precision Pasting

You might be able to use labels for this. Once you find the absolutely perfect cut point, park a label there (Apple/Control-B). The label will become sticky or magnetic when you're trying to insert a segment or clip. Inexporably drawing you into the perfect edit.
