Re: How easy is Audacity?
I'm trying to keep cost down Right. That's why instead of investing in a lavalier (chest) microphone, you might want to try the much simpler lay a phone on the podium and try not to bump into it during the service. Is someone already has the phone that's 0$ USD. You do need to do a few tests. I've ...

Re: How easy is Audacity?
With the idea you're going to be in a video editor anyway, I'd be shocked if the video editor didn't allow you to split the sound off and make it louder. That's pretty basic.

Re: How easy is Audacity?
In theory, you would open the .mp4 file in Audacity and it would split off the sound portion for editing. Then apply volume controls, effects, filters, etc. Then it gets a little messy. Export a stand-alone sound file from Audacity and use your video editor to put it back into the video show. It's t...

And since I haven't been Debby Downer for at least ten minutes. Your microphone, the AK-80. Screen Shot 2020-04-15 at 18.17.02.png Has a striking resemblance to the BM-800. Screen Shot 2020-04-15 at 18.17.51.png We've had complaints about that microphone series. Somebody in the world made a bunch of...

Re: Recording Issues - Low RMS but High Peaks?
all you have to do is keep that up for a whole book. That's a New User revelation. The first time you hear yourself as others hear you, you say to yourself, "How flat and boring I sound." You have the other extreme where you went nuts with theater, swing and emphasis and it turns out that...

This is workable. I applied Audiobook Mastering and moderately stiff noise reduction and the piece will pass ACX Technical standards—just barely. Re: RMS
If you're reading and processing a long book, you should only have to put the correction values in each tool once. They're sticky and will repeat until you change them. Don't leave out that Filter Curve tool. Many home microphones and microphone systems produce rumble and earthquake tones by acciden...

Re: Automatic Gain Control on Recording? (Autosave?)
Yes it would. So smaler bits with a Time and Date would help a lot to find a incident.
Audacity doesn't have time stamps and it doesn't have progressive updating of storage files. That's a surveillance recorder.
