Re: cant find file after crash
More wrong words. 1G left is a full hard drive unless you're editing 3 minute songs, and then only one at a time. A 60 minute, good quality, stereo recording will, with production, push you past 3G before your second sip of coffee. Audacity automatically blows out that tiny MP3 file to a huge uncomp...

You are so using all the wrong words.
How much room do you have on your hard drive? Right-click, Properties. I need the Total Size and Free Space numbers.
When was the last time you did an error check and defragmentation?

Re: Audacity speeding up my recordings up for some reason
We know. Web Phones screw up your computer sound services. It's one of the reasons you can't record both sides of your conversation. It's not unusual for Audacity to not work at all in the presence of Skype or Vonage. It's not evil. In order to work right, VOIP systems need to completely take over y...

Parallels
I have a new Mac that will run Parallels (that I haven't installed yet) and thus have the ability to run Audacity Windows and Audacity Mac at the same time. Who wins? Is there going to be a little mushroom cloud over my machine if I try?

Re: How do I make vocals crisper
Remember the MP3 step creates damage and can contribute to the muffled audio if you're not careful. Also, you should edit the WAV or Project, not the MP3. Editing an MP3 creates multiple layers of damage. I'm at the wrong computer for this, but I think Audacity 1.3 has those controls. You can instal...

Re: cant find file after crash
<<<a three hour edit of a soundfile>>> No. You weren't. Past the first edit, you were not working on a soundfile. You were working on an Audacity Project which is a spray of different files, manipulated by the aup file to perform your edits. Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. You ...

Re: timestamping feature
All computer files carry a creation time and date. Windows isn't always the best at letting you see it, but it's always there. There is no stamp feature because you can't stop it.

I'll take the other half. <<<Probably something to do with the microphone and phone not playing nicely>>> Probably because you're not using a "Telephone Deskset." That would have worked. You're using a cellphone whose radio transmitter drives other electronics nuts. Headsets and other cell...

<<<the audio I record>>>
The audio you record doesn't happen to be you, a guitar, and a nice microphone in a quiet room, does it?
