Re: Newbie to Audacity using MacMini OS-X
Audacity doesn't save sound files. Sorry, we're not awfully good about pointing that out. Open each Audacity Project and Export As WAV. Each WAV file should drop right into iTunes or any other sound program. Let us know if it doesn't work. You can dip into the Tips and Tutorials at the top of this f...

Re: buzzing and distortion after 30 seconds... please help
<<<I sometimes experience similar distortion with Audacity and other audio files>>> After 30 seconds? <<<only to find that after 30 seconds, the sound starts to buzz and it distorts really badly>>> You have a problem we've heard before. Windows PCs are business computers and are designed to auto-lev...

Re: Audacity is shutting down, error message, losing recordi
The problem may be version nomenclature. We wish the developers would stop calling 1.3.7 "unstable." In many instances it's far more stable and useful than the very much older 1.2. Audacity 1.2 belches smoke, only starts if the temperature is above 35 F, the passenger side door no longer c...

Re: Clipping / Distortion when exporting
If you have a number of stacked tracks one above the other, it's not unusual for Audacity to play them OK in real time, but then add all the sound values on all the tracks and produced a destroyed Export. Select all the tracks and apply Effect > Amplify filter to all of them (not just reduce the vol...

Re: Having trouble recording
Every time you stop a recording, Audacity will start a new timeline under the old one. When you play, they will both play back. Record Pause will not do that. Pause will halt the current capture and then pick the same one up again when you unpause. If you have to stop the session, Export the current...

<<<but nothing happens. I'm not prompted to enter a name.>>> Those two are different. Do you get the new track on the bottom with the marker on it and it just doesn't ask you for more information? Are you using Mac/Intel/leopard (OS-X 10.5)? Then you are strongly urged to delete Audacity and upgrade...

No, not the Mazda product, and this strictly isn't a sound card, but a stunning number of people are using the Zoom recorders to capture live performances. http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h4/ I know a number of audio and production types that are using an H2 or H4 daily. Nobody is putting an ...

Re: Snowy Noise in the background Vocal (talking only) audio
One of the problems with the bottom-feeding equipment is the lack of specs. I bought a number of Really Cheap sound mixers that failed to meet the production needs before I gave up and spent the bux on a mixer whose numbers promised the performance that actually met the job. The earlier mixers had n...

Re: screething sound when hitting play
You downloaded a song in a digital format that Audacity doesn't understand. It's very common in 1.2 a little less in 1.3. Download six second piano2.wav from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html I bet it plays perfectly. Convert your music to WAV in Super or Switch before editing (assum...
