Re: Annoying click
I have a capture digital converter that does that. Try applying Effect > Normalize > Remove DC Level. Deselect everything else. Sometimes broken or badly adjusted audio systems allow their operating battery voltages to leak into the sound. Battery or DC is not sound, so you can't hear that it's ther...

Re: possible bug - can only record at 96000
What are you trying to record? People always start the movie after the second act.
When you restarted Audacity after the Great Deletion, did it ask you "English?" at First Birthday? If it didn't, then you're still sitting on your old config files.

Re: Directory for temp
<<<1.26 on a Mac Pro >>>
That could be a problem right there, as we're finding out. If you are Mac/Intel/Leopard (OS-X 10.5) your audacity choices are 1.3.7. Neither Audacity 1.2.5 nor Audacity 1.2.6 is stable on the newer Macs.

Re: How do i get the recording to play in itunes
The best format and the least trouble one may be different. Music CDs are produced at 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. iTunes converts incoming music to its own internal compressed format, usually some version of AAC. I use iTunes plus 256 Stereo. If you burn a Music CD, iTunes has to convert the compressed m...

Re: Yet Another Volume Question
The older Music CDs were pressed with the Red Book standard audio level of -17dB, 0 being maxed out. This results in a reasonable volume for the music and the ability to go significantly over without damage. Actually hitting digital Zero is deadly. So -17dB was Zero VU on your tape machine. Please n...

Re: Only two tracks with Delta 44
Audacity will capture and manage up to 16 tracks of sound from any one Sound Device. Many multiple channel sound devices present their product to the computer as multiple stereo devices. This is common. Audacity will only manage one stereo device in this case. It's rough to shop for a multi-channel ...

Re: not opening files
The AUP file is a Project Supervisory File and has written in it all the names of all the files involved in the project and their locations. You can't change anything after you save a project and expect it to survive.

Re: not opening files
<<<its saved on the desktop.>>> No, it's not. The Audacity Project Supervisory AUP File is on the desktop, but the rest of the project is in other files on other locations. You probably want to get to the end of an interview and Export As WAV to get a single, stand-alone, high quality sound file. Th...

Re: Bit Depth Conversion
I remember this problem. What do the three numbers on a work panel mean, the two numbers left of the timeline and the sampling number at the bottom left? the one lower left clearly isn't the Project sample rate because I can change it at will and the show try to follow me. That's not the sample rate...

Bit Depth Conversion
Audacity 1.2, Any platform. I know how to change a clip sample rate with the little window at the bottom-left. How do I change the bit depth? I've actually done this once and I don't remember how. Google doesn't remember, either. I have a 32-bit clip that I need in 16.
