Re: separating all the tracks
<<<Is there a way in the beta version to separate all the vocals and drums, guitar, voiceovers, etc. to individual tracks>>> Even better, there's no way to do that in either Audacity 1.2 or 1.3, or any other audio program. The best you can do is put one song on the timeline and the second song on a ...

Re: can't record a tape
A few definitions. That is an RCA Cable. In stereo pairs, they're usually red and white. http://www.pachd.com/free-images/technology-images/rca-connector-02.jpg http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html The top one of these is an 1/8" or 3.5mm stereo audio cable. Let's assu...

Re: "Save" button in "export" dialogue box is grayed out
It's not. Spaces are only a problem if you need to bounce between Windows, Linux and Mac, and do it several times a day. Even at that, they're merely very awkward and do not cause actual damage. I can get a gray "Save" button in my Audacity 1.2 by trying to put the work in a location where...

Re: Strange audio message Help!
While the free Audacity is downloading in the background, they try to trick you into buying a different sound editor. We get a lot of complaints about problems with paid licenses. <<<AVS de adama....or something like that.>>> Audacity is free and doesn't give you messages unless there is something b...

Re: DC offset removal
Yes, we do need to be careful of our expectations. Square waves of appropriate frequencies will go through a sound system successfully. It's one of the audio tests. Waves need not be symmetrical, either. There is one announcer on KPCC that I can pick out in the middle of an hour show because her voi...

Re: Multiple Songs on One Track
Most editors have no concept of "nothing." A Space is a thing and to get one in your show, you have to put one in.

Re: multichannel output
This may be a similar problem that an earlier poster had, Movie DVDs support both stereo PCM and Dolby AC3 Surround. Dolby AC3 is not Left-Front, etc. It's a stream package with coding as to where the sound is supposed to go. It's not "real" audio until it's decoded. It's a similar problem...

Re: avoiding distortion
From all the postings on the forum, I'd say staying away from USB turntables leads the list. Set Audacity preferences for 44100, 16-bit, Stereo and capture at a volume that could not possibly overload. You can make it louder later, but if you clip or overload, you're dead. The best you can do is cha...

Re: SPDIF Device Not Recognized
<<<I cannot record streaming audio.>>> I'm not surprised. The Siig audio device is a playback unit. It transforms the Dolby surround AC3 bistream from a Movie DVD into optical for delivery to a theater system. As near as I can tell, that's all it does. The stream is never converted into six separate...
