Audacity will not run into a full hard drive or one that's badly fragmented. Have you checked your drives?

Re: Input problem
The webcam may deliver the sound to the Windows Control Panel as one sound device and it's up to you to select it or turn it on.

Re: how many mics can i use
It's a cousin to the same problem. Audacity can only deal with one Sound Device. Each USB plugin counts as one. There is one oddity here. If you shop for a multiple stream USB device, please note that a lot -- or most of them deliver their work to the computer as multiple stereo streams, not the 16 ...

Re: Isolate sound mostly heard in one channel
And if the real complaint is the show is louder on the left than the right, you can fix that with the amplify controls while you have the left and right split. Then recombine into stereo.

Re: changing record speed from 45 rpm to 78 rpm
I can't tell where you're going with this, but your record playback and capture should be the only thing on the Audacity timeline when you execute these tools and commands. Edit > Select > All should select one whole side of the album and nothing else. That's the good news. The bad news is playing a...

Your Welcome.

<<<the 11 hundred something rate>>> There was a posting from one of the developers that the rate you're using is broken. I would record the shows in a more normal specification 44100, 16, Stereo (or mono) and convert to your deliverable format in an outside program like Switch or Super. Another poss...

<<<better to use the mac instead ?>>> It would be better to use the Mac in addition; one machine for one microphone and the other for the other. Record them in the same audio standard and combine the tracks in one of the two computers in post production. The transition from one microphone to two cha...

Re: Recording trouble
Try resetting the Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit (from 32), Mono (from Stereo). Restart Audacity to make sure the setting stick and try again.

<<<When you zoom in in the middle of a track, then pause and then play the (blue) waveform jumps to beginning of the track.>>>
Do you have "Tracks > Update Display While Playing" selected in preferences? I don't and mine doesn't do that.
