Re: Editing .aup and Gain?
I realize that it is VERY close to ACX check Don't fall in love with reading directly into ACX. While it is possible sometimes to do that, you may be accidentally creating inaudible errors. Many home systems create rumble and earthquake sounds in the background. They're almost impossible to hear, b...

Re: Editing .aup and Gain?
I produced an audiobook about four years ago with minimal equipment. Do you still have the minimal equipment? Do you have a backup if your shiny new microphone fails? In my opinion, you read your performance and immediately export it, fluffs, flaws and all as a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit sound file. Pu...

Re: Inexplicable Audio Issues
You can post an example of the damage on the forum.

At first pass, it sounds like either compression damage (MP3 problems) or a phone echo cancellation.

Re: mp3 question - album cover
The technique of getting on-line information was designed around Audio CDs which used all of their data for sound leaving nothing or almost nothing for "metadata," or stuff other than sound. CDs would traditionally fail in the car until "going online from your car" got popular. M...

Re: Clear Warm vocal effect
Stay away from the loudness tones. Musical tones peaking around 3000Hz, generally written as the equal loudness contours. Screen Shot 2020-04-17 at 1.19.36.png You may know it as "baby screaming on a jet." I fuzzy remember there used to be an Equalizer (or Filter Curve as it's known now) p...

As efficient as possible is to finish your reading, edit out the mistakes, run Audiobook Mastering, Export a protection Edit Master Sound F...

Re: Static after first recording
Sometimes noise has signatures or leaves tell-tail damage. For example, there is a USB sound error that we can recognize from across the room.

Re: Static after first recording
Post some of it. Post no-performance silence and voice.
Use this as the recipe. You can use any words. You don't have to deal with Catskill Cows. Read down the blue links. They're very short.

Re: Help me! Newbie with Audacity and my file has an echo problem
Audacity has no tools to get rid of echo. It's one of the permanent errors. How are you doing the podcast? Each person records their own voice and sends the sound file to you? That's a little "marching cats," but it produces the best sound. If you try to do that with a machine set to recor...
