Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
<<<download an mp3 ebook to my computer.>>> You need to talk a lot more about that. How do I reproduce the problem exactly? Do you have Show File Extensions selected in Windows? My Computer > Properties > Tools > [ ] Hide File Extensions (unclick) This slippery icon-based hiding business leads most ...

Re: System recognizes signal, Audacity does not
<<<I lined his cassette deck into the mic input>>>
Probably not. Macs for a good long time have had Stereo Line-In on the side or back, not Mono Mic-In. Circle with two black arrows? That's the Line-In -- which is a good thing in your case.

Re: System recognizes signal, Audacity does not
Yes, but only after you also set it up in the Audacity Preference Panels. Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Input. Also in that same panel, you must select Stereo and not Mono. Audacity > Preferences > Quality That one should be changed from 32-floating to 16 and 44100 sample rate. Restart Audaci...

Re: Sharp 'S' in vocals
<<<If a pop filter doesn't reduce sibilants neither will foam.>>> Some foams might help a little. Those little tie-tack microphones become slightly less bright when I put the foam blast filter on. This I have experienced with these fingers. That's why I pointed to them. The ad for Electro-Voice foam...

Re: Saved recording disappears
Namaste, Catastrophic causes of file corruption are filling up your hard drive or viruses, or, in rare instances, actual machine damage or hard drive corruption. Does Vista still have Drive Error Check and Defragment? My Computer > C: > Properties > Tools Is your virus protection up to date? Most pe...

Re: Problems with save and with export
There is no stable 1.2 for Mac/Intel/Leopard. I bought my second Mac, a MacBook Pro that has problems with Audacity 1.2 in addition to 1.2 problems on my Intel Mac Mini. Audacity 1.2.6 never worked right and 1.2.5 is becoming more and more damaged. For us, the only stable production version is 1.3.7...

Re: How do I delete projects
I've often wondered that. I have no idea because in spite of doing substantial production work in Audacity, I don't use Projects. I don't need multiple channel productions or do any of the other things that make Projects valuable. I export capture masters at the beginning, edit my brains out and exp...

Re: Sharp 'S' in vocals
I don't think a pop and blast filter will have any affect on high frequencies and sibilance at all. They're designed to be completely transparent to the performance except they need to stretch a bit in response to serious low frequency energy -- and thus gracefully suppress plosives and anything tha...

Re: Put project into its own folder, now no audio
The blue waves on the screen are created by two or more picture files, not the show. If you start moving things around, it's perfectly possible to have all the waveforms and no show at all. There is a way to fix all this without moving your files around, but it means you have to manually write your ...

Re: Put project into its own folder, now no audio
<<<I didn't consider I'd 'moved' anything as such.>>> Each folder in a computer has a name and is considered a "location." This name is recorded, literally, inside the programming of your Project. When I open up a Project, Audacity is going to look for my work in (for example) koz > Docume...
