Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
<<<this was my first Audacity project>>> It might be good to start your Audacity career with a 3 minute show and make all the mistakes there, not a ten hour, multiple GB, difficult to manage, slow, prone to crashing and failure extravaganza. Do you have one (or multiple) Exported WAV files of your w...

Re: Hitching a ride on the green triangle???
<<<am I fated to be frustrated?>>> You're fated. The television people all want Audacity to scrub like the video editors do. Move the cursor and the sound follows exactly in step forward or backward. Many of these tools can be programmed, but they all assume you're working on a very powerful compute...

Re: What Causes Mystery Back Chatter To Be Recorded?
<<<Anyone seen this before?>>> Oh yes. It's amazingly easy to "make" a radio. If you are in the "A Contour" (really close) to an AM radio station, it's possible to hear the station with a lead pencil, a razor blade and a set of headphones. No batteries or electronics at all. Look...

Re: Best way to mark tracks of old family recordings?
That is the embarrassing elephant in the room, isn't it? I know what you have in your mind and the computer industry is determined to not to let you do that. All digital storage is fugitive. Given not all that much time, whatever you put the songs on is going to die and take your sound with it. Some...

Oh, and it's also limited to 80 minutes per disk.

Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
It's almost a certainty that the original file was not a standard MP3. MP3 technology is millions of years old (1987) and relatively inefficient. Nobody does it that way any more. It's a safe bet that the player has a special MP4 or M4A software that "knows" where the music breaks are by a...

Re: White noise
<<<tiny tiny bit of a hiss>>> Tiny bit? Not the same volume as the hiss behind your show? There is an analog to digital converter inside that USB audio cable and any electronics like that can make noise. However, noise like that is normally associated with ultra sensitive microphone amplifiers, not ...

Re: Sharp 'S' in vocals
And stay far away from overload. On the standard blue waves, that's the "1" top and bottom. Hitting one of those will turn a normally bright microphone nuclear.

<<<What is the full path (location) that you are are Exporting the WAV file to?>>>
I'd do better granularity than that.
File > Export As WAV > ...and continue on from there.

Re: White noise
We can whack this system up into pieces to figure out what happened. The USB thing is a what? Who made it? Part numbers? Leave everything connected like you have but turn off the amp, guitar, foot pedal and all the rest of the musical equipment. Leave the USB thing and computer running and make a fi...
