Re: Songs abruptly end in iTunes

First, you might change the Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's the best format to keep you out of trouble, but that's not the format that Audacity wakes up in. After that, Export As WAV or Export Multiple -- WAV. iTunes carries its own import data compression and presenting it wit...

Re: Unable to open files...

This happens most often when people try to clean up or organize their computer after capturing a performance. Audacity records the exact names and locations of everything when you Save as Project. It always looks in the same places and if there's something missing or misnamed, the show will not open...

Re: Problems with save and with export

That's the good news. When it asks you "English?" that means you succeeded in a reinstall.

In Obsolete, Unstable Audacity 1.2, formats are all set in Preferences, not at Export.

Audacity > Preferences > File Formats.

Re: Cannot export audio to (filename.aiff)

<<<Cannot export audio to (filename.aiff).>>> That's not what it actually said, was it? I'm betting it was complaining about you putting punctuation marks inside your filename. GlennMillerParis-6/4/45.wav Most computers will throw up if they see a filename like that. Upper and lower case letters, nu...

Re: Audacity stops recording

<<<there’s about 37Gb free disk space and about 2 Gb memory.>>> That's a darn good start. Now run My Computer > C: > Properties > Tools > Error Check and Defragment. Audacity has to do everything in real time and it can't go plowing through a large, but messy hard drive looking for free space. The s...

Re: Shure PG-58 won't record.

Your eventual goal is one of these... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg That is a Balanced (three-wire) to Unbalanced (two wire) converter. That converter will plug straight into the Mic-In of any PC. The trick is to make that converter. I don't know of any way to get there with...

Just because Macs have problems with this...how are you capturing the voice? What's the step between the lips and the Mac?

Re: recording a file in MAC and opening in Windows

Most people think they can Save a sound file in Audacity. They can't. They can, however, Export one. Make sure Audacity Preferences are set for 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's not how Audacity comes out of the box. Once the performance is completed, Export As WAV and that file will open up in almost a...

Re: Speeded up play-back in exported MP3s

Can you Export As WAV and drop that into Windows Media?

Tell me again where you got the music from? Is this you playing a ukulele in front of a microphone?

Re: Orphaned .au files

<<<You may reply directly to [email protected].com.>>> We may, but probably won't. We like to keep conversations public so the maximum number of people see them. You have a crash and you should investigate possible reasons why, like your drives are filling up or you need defragmentation. No production ma...
