Re: Audacity stops recording

Here's a test. Set up and start another capture and watch your little hard drive activity light. It should blip on about once a half-second or so. It should not go on bright and, for all practical purposes stay on. Control-Alt-Delete > Task Manager > Processes. You should not need to page down more ...

Re: Increasing Volume

What kind of computer do you have? We can't tell from where you posted. If you're on a Mac, you can open up the file in QuickTime > Apple-I and it will tell you what kind of music file it is. If it's not an MP3 or WAV, you will need to convert the files(s) so Audacity can read them.

Re: Filtering out a telephone touch tone.

DTMF Dual Tone Multi Frequency was chosen so that each "number" combination was robust and unique even though transmitted through a distorted telephone system. If you had the actual pure DTMF tones, you could probably filter them out with a Nyquist or two. But if they're the slightest bit ...

Re: Error opening sound device

<<<Garageband can get the stereo signal from Blue Snowball and Audacity can't>>> GarageBand is making up the stereo signal out of the mono bitstream. It does the same thing if you record with your built-in microphone, again, clearly a mono device, but it shows up as stereo if you do production with ...

Re: Help connecting Behringer Usb Interface and recording mi

Find out if your Mac can see the device. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Select the Behringer. Watch the Apple sound meter while you play something. As a first pass, change Audacity preferences around a little. Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Stereo Audacity > Preferences...

Re: Can't access effects - all grey - even with audio select

If you have Audacity 1.2.6, you have the wrong Audacity. Intel Audacity is 1.2.5. However... There are some very serious workarounds to force the much older Audacity 1.2 to work with our newer machines. It doesn't really wanna. Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.7 Universal. Remove 1.2.x and the config file......

Re: Songs abruptly end in iTunes

The other way, the one with the least conversion damage, is to do all the capturing in 44100, 16, Stereo and change iTunes import preferences to WAV Automatic. iTunes should manage the songs all the way to the physical Music CD with no change in either bitrate or bit depth. Zero conversion damage. T...

Re: Audacity stops recording

How fast is your computer? We never talked about that. The fuzzy overall view is you are experiencing a backup caused by speed. Again, everything runs at real time. If the drives can't keep up for any reason, the work starts accumulating in much faster hardware memory and eventually fails the first ...

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback

<<<It's not this recording because it happens with professional recordings that I know are clean.>>> And it's a better than even bet that if you played your work on another computer, it would be fine. Gargling underwater is a compression artifact. Is all your work MP3 or other compressed format? Wha...
