Don't bother. Only CDex is a full ripper. Anything you do with Audacity is likely to cause damage or odd results.

Audacity is a really simple sound program and it likes running on really simple computers. If updated drivers and tuning doesn't work, your only option is Audacity 1.3.

The Windows control panel sliders are schizophrenic. They change depending on what you're doing (it's what makes Windows so darn much fun).

Yes....but. The analog input of the Mac, the little circle with two black arrows is a world-class, line level audio connection. If you have a fiber audio connection, it will do that, too. I think if somebody paid me to do this, I'd be hanging out in the forums of the makers of the multi-channel devices. Much more likely to get somebody with experience there.

Can you post say :30 or so of typical dialog with the tones included? Try to avoid MP3 as it has its own distortion. WAV is good.
Are you sure Noise Removal is one of the tools you can chain? It's not a very long list.
