Re: Audacity will not open mp3 files...
Most unusual. Go > Home > Music > iTunes > iTunes Music > [Offending File] Apple-I Info. Pull the info panel open so it shows you the whole thing. What does that say? While you're down there, [Offending File] > File > Open With... Is Audacity in that list and does it work? Oh, Wait. I missed an impo...

Re: Audacity stops recording
Start Audacity and make a recording of almost anything. Pause the recording and go looking for that folder.

Re: MP3 Encoding Issues
Let's see...converting in my head...17 minutes...stereo... The original was about 150M, right? That's ten to one compression. That's not bad. You can change the compression, filesize, and quality in the Audacity Preference panels. Edit > Preferences > Quality (I'm guessing) MP3 bitrate. Very, very g...

Re: Audacity will not open mp3 files...
I got a terrifically good idea. The only characters allowed in file and folder names are upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore. That's it. All other characters can lead to unstable results. Let's see, I think the pound sign (#) means comment, so everything to the right of that v...

Re: Extracting vocal from song
You can't wander off and you need to start answering the questions we're asking. Where did you get the two tracks and is it a stereo show?

Re: exporting multiple track
You did miss a couple of the finer points. You got your album(s) onto the timeline OK and then you put a label at the beginning of each song. Then you Export As WAV and Audacity collected all your individual songs into a pile somewhere. Are you doing this at the 44100, 16-bit, Stereo Audacity Prefer...

Nuts.
I still wish you would do the testing with a straight line-in or cheap microphone instead of involving the internet services. The idea is to narrow the possibilities, not widen them.
I need to go back over the thread...

Re: Memory limits and Playback Speed
If the meetings are just people talking to each other and not theatrical performances and you don't need extensive post-production later, then Audacity default preferences are a complete waste of time. Reset to 44100, 16-bit, Mono. That's the most efficient way to capture very, very good quality mon...

Re: Using Audacity as a webcam pre-recording processor
Audacity is not a real time processor. It records and plays in real time and does everything else, the filters everything, in post production.

Re: Recording LP's through UBS Turntable
You can get vocal cancellation like that if one or more of the pins inside the phono cartridge are broken. Did the cartridge come separate from the arm and you put it on yourself? Can you take it off and put it back a couple of times? Inspect the pins under the cartridge with a mirror. There's nothi...
