You did miss a couple of the finer points. You got your album(s) onto the timeline OK and then you put a label at the beginning of each song. Audacity is not a real time processor. It records and plays in real time and does everything else, the filters everything, in post production.

You can get vocal cancellation like that if one or more of the pins inside the phono cartridge are broken. Did the cartridge come separate from the arm and you put it on yourself?
