Re: Phone line recording
Recording from a copper phone line is magic -- particularly since most people don't just want their own voice, they want both sides and at the same volume. Yes, both voices are on the line pair at the same time, but they're going in different directions. Equipment called Telephone Hybrids, Phone Pat...

Re: System Reboots
<<<one application being the problem.>>> I don't agree. A simple audio program should not cause the machine to reboot even if it is profoundly unstable. "The application is not responding and will be closed. All other applications are unaffected." "The application has performed an ill...

Re: System Reboots
Thanks. Nobody ever reads the mini dump and I count myself in good company there. How big is the hard drive and how much room do you have left? Is the system drive the only thing connected? USB drives? Thumb Drives? How many red bars did you get when you defragmented? Did the error check go OK? If y...

WAV is a production format and MP3 is a delivery format. Now you know why.

Re: recording level meter dies
There is no stable 1.2 for us with that machine combination. Download and install Audacity 1.3.7. I would probably take out 1.2.x first and don't forget to trash the preferences file. Be sure and write down any system changes you made. Most people end up at 44100, 16-bit, Stereo and that's not how A...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
I still need to know about that iMic. Mine had two different connectors and a Hi/Lo switch on it. Does yours?

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
<<<Why do you ask anyhow? What difference does it make?>>> I was going to say it doesn't make any difference at all, but I'm reminded from the illustrations it could. Is the adapter mono to mono? Does the end look like this... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html ...or like...

Re: Removing background televison from recording
Were you using one microphone for the talk? If so, you have no show. All the noise and interference tools work on a stereo show, or an interfering noise that is constant through the show like an air conditioner, pump rumble, or power hum. You can't separate a mixed mono performance featuring two per...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
I just went a dug up the specs on the microphone again. All the reviews feature words like "Low Level" and "High Gain Preamplifier." Those are difficult microphones to use with cheap amplifiers that don't cost very much. One of the users claims 70dB gain to bring the performance ...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
We're still missing one piece. The iMic that I had and hated had 1/8" (3.5mm) connections on it, not 1/4" (6.3mm) phone sockets. We know what the microphone is. Show us the web site of your iMic.
