Re: error while opening sound device
<<<This used to work>>> But not on this computer. You might try resetting the Audacity audio settings. Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > 2 (Stereo) Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit. Restart Audacity to make sure the settings stick and try it again. Koz

Re: Problem with MP3 playing on other software
When Audacity installs, it assumes odd sound standards. You can change them in Audacity Preferences. Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > 2 (Stereo) Restart Audacity to make sure the settings stick. MP3 music made with the original Audacity First Birthday set...

Re: Deleted Temporary Files
The Windows people will be on line in a couple of hours, but I think without the temporary files and folder intact, you have no show. All the Disaster Rescue Tools work on recovering the existing files. If you overwrote them.......

Re: any way to change bitrate of MP3 export?
From the pictures, Audacity will not Export anything unless there is a show on the timeline to Export. It will Save A Project because a Project is an editorial environment, not a sound file. I "OK" my way around the metadata editor. I don't think I've ever typed anything in those boxes. I ...

Re: Presonus Firebox not recognized by Audacity 1.2
You may also need a common sound setting. Try 44100, 16-bit, Stereo in the Audacity Preferences. Restart Audacity and see if that doesn't help. If you're on Mac/Intel/Leopard, you have the additional complexity that Audacity 1.2 has some serious issues with us. Unstable 1.3 is much more stable for u...

Re: Simple Question, don't know how to search for it.
What you're doing now is Insert Editing, where the new work pushes everything else out of the way. Another way to do it -- in Audacity 1.3 ... Tracks > Add New That will give you a new clean track under the original one. Paste your music in this second track and they will both play at once. Shift ba...

Re: Export lacks "punch"
<<<No Koz, my understanding is that most of these recordings in Wolfgang's Vault were made directly off the mixing desk in many cases.>>>
So this is the thing we keep ranting about. Somebody that actually has access to the original mix tapes. Wooo Hooo! I can die happy.

<<<I said in my first post that they are both in FLAC.>>> You also said you downloaded it from the internet, so you don't know who produced the FLAC or where they got the original material from.
