Re: WAV file size vs. recording time

<<<Am I missing something?>>> Several somethings. The capacity of a Music CD is 80 minutes. The Music CD authoring program (which you must use) converts whatever you have into 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Period. No options. No compression. That's why it always comes out very, very high quality 80 minutes...

Re: Can't access effects - all grey - even with audio select

<<<as I start to play they turns grey. So???>>> So, Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. Select some audio, apply the filter, play the sound to hear how it worked. Some filters have a preview function so you don't have to apply the filter and UNDO the the whole show. Other filters, it's a good ...

Re: Removing harmonies

They're not harmonies necessarily. Vocal Removal -- which only rarely works at all -- is dependent on a whole raft of rules. One of the rules is that the tool will not remove stereo special effects, echo, reverb, or dimentional harmonies. These effects are frequently added to a vocal performance to ...

Re: Volume Equalisation

One of the complaints with "Normalize" is that it affects each channel, left and right, separately. Neither Normalize nor Amplify work on loudness, just waveform size, but it's a start.

Re: Superglue

There is no way to make the existing track "sticky." But nowhere is it written that you can't start another track. Tracks > Add New. Paste or open your additional work into this new track and they will both play at once. Use the Solo or Mute buttons (left) to listen to one or the other. So...

Re: File errors when burning WAV to CD

This one's hard...... If you go into Audacity Preferences, are you producing the work at 44100, 16-bit, Stereo? Sometimes Audacity's 32-bit floating can cause problems, and I have one Music CD authoring program that hates Mono. Just to be crystal clear. All the work is coming from your captured tape...

Re: Picking up what appears to be radio signal

If you have strong enough radio signals in your neighborhood, you don't need a radio at all. Are there any red and white striped towers around? You can make radio problems much worse by having old or dirty audio connections or connections that are loose. Glass cleaner and fresh paper towels go a lon...

Re: nothing records

The Windows sound control panels should let you select connection for capture and set the volume in the case of the analog signals.

Re: HELP! Can't export clips shorter than 5 seconds

It might do that if you have "Snap To" selected in the lower part of the Audacity operating window.
