The Envelope tool is the two white arrows and bent blue line. Percent/dB conversion is in the menu under the downward facing black arrow.

Re: mixdown level set
If you have your various tracks one above the other on the timeline, you can select one at a time and apply the Envelope Tool. This gives you rubber bands over the track that you can click and push around to make the track louder and softer wherever and however much you wish. Use the Solo and Mute b...

Re: Anyway to disable AU support for audacity?
It doesn't happen very often, but this may be one of the times when Audacity just isn't for you. We have another poster where Audacity causes a hard machine crash. It's consistent and nobody can figure out why.
So stop using it.

Re: Can't find my recordings and burn them to CD:s
Audacity does not Save sound files. When you get a show on your timeline that you like, Export As WAV and pull that real, actual sound file into your Music CD authoring software. This process works better if Audacity Preferences are changed to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. It's easier to make that into a C...

Re: Adding to a track
No, but if you Pause instead of Stop, you can unpause and it will keep recording on the same track. Try it a couple of times on a short, unimportant show.
There is one minor down side. People forget they paused the recording and can't figure out why the tools don't work.

Wait. What USB device? Mix Out lets you record what you're computer is playing. Most people want that to record internet music. No USB involved.

Re: WAV file size vs. recording time
One followup. For a Data CD, forget the minutes and use the 700 MB number. And don't fall madly in love with getting hours of music on Data CD in MP3 format. Sound Damage goes up as the music filesize goes down. You can smash eight or more hours of music on there, but each song will be mono and soun...
