Did you change operating systems? The leap from Tiger (OS-X 10.4) to Leopard (OS-X 10.5) caused a number of software problems. Did you go from an older PowerPC Mac to a newer Intel machine?

Re: a tinny sound
Does the music on the tracks before and after this one sound OK? Does the music sound OK if you don't go through Audacity -- just play the music without the computer?

Re: mp3 export weirdness
<<<The need for having a lower streaming rate is important.>>> 32 is widely considered the lowest MP3 bitrate you can use to encode a mono, not stereo show with minimal damage. If the show is stereo it jumps to 64. You are listening to the gargling and bubbling that happens to MP3 with too low a bit...

Re: Low Level Background noise
You probably don't. The only noises that the Noise Removal Tools work with are continuous noises like hiss or air conditioner or fan noises. The only other tools need a stereo show. Or multiple microphones. The lorry is now a performer in your show. Recording a live performance is much more difficul...

Re: Mic/Line vs. High Gain/ Low Gain
We miss a setting that the earlier microphone channels had -- that 20dB Boost thing. That was frequently the difference between getting a microphone to work with your computer and not. That could be High and Low microphone. But you're right, that's not the difference between Line -In (0dBv) and Mic-...

Re: Increasing recording time
You can put your exported WAV files anywhere you wish, but you can't move Saved Audacity Projects. Change the Audacity Preferences (Directories??) to point to your new drive. There is one downside to capturing to a stunningly huge hard drive. They're slow. Audacity does everything in real time. It d...

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound
<<<And I'll get a better mic!>>> A word there. I know several people using vacuum tube microphone preamplifiers and would rather disembowel themselves than give them up. These amplifiers wrote the book on "warm tube sound." The Arts people make a nice one and past that I have no ideas. One...

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound
<<<If I put one of the tracks out of phase (either voice or music), maybe I could get more separation.>>> Yes, but no. Don't do that. Straight delay on one channel will cause the voice to cancel out in mono playback systems. Leave the actor where he is. Jury's out on the music, but I do know one tec...

Re: loops and markers
There are some slippery words in there. It is a sound editor, it's not a WAV editor. Count the number of people posting who "saved their AUP sound file" and tried to pull it into iTunes.

Tester. And it also says 1.2 is stable and 1.3 is unstable. On newer Macs, 1.3 is stable and 1.2 is unstable. We're full of little tricks like that. <<<'The Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor'>>> It makes good ad copy. Would you download an Editorial Production Environment Manager? Koz
