This could be a version of this problem. The solution is the same.

Re: Lost sound
It's not unusual for a USB installation to capture the computer's sound service. Generally when this happens, the computer is trying to send the show sound back out to the turntable instead of to the speakers. Fix this in the Windows Control Panels,. Re: Can't Seem to Record Streeming Audio
Audacity is something of a slave to the machine it's running on. In this case, you need to adjust the Windows Control Panels to record the machine speaker service -- sometimes called Mix-Out.

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound
<<<I now think that this might be true for analog recording, >>> Analog recordings are constantly crammed between tape saturation at the top end and oxide and electronic noise at the lower. In Digital, the overload point is always right there next to you, but there effectively isn't a noise floor. 1...

Re: IMA ADPCM vs MS ADPCM
The supplier of download materials has apparently failed. Many of the program distributions went off line.
I have no more information than that.

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound
It isn't that crazy. Amplify rips through the whole show and adjusts one master volume based on the one loudest sound from either side. Normalize adjusts the volume of left and right individually. The upshot of that can be a startling distortion of, for example, where the instruments are in your hea...

Re: In line Recording
All the sound card services are switched or faded with either the Windows Controls Panels, or sometimes the card will have its own panel. Dig in the instructions until you find the fader or switch for Line-In. There may be both switch and fader. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/ind...

Re: MAJOR Static issue while recording podcast / voice...
Many of the other postings have to do with USB turntables -- notoriously unstable and troublesome. You can buy a whole turntable system for what I recently paid for just the cartridge for my top of the line turntable. So what did the USB electronics cost? Three cents? Four cents? Nobody wants to adm...

Re: Background hum
I'm betting you have too many pathways open. Windows does recursive sound pathways. The upside of that is the ability to record internet shows. The downside is instability from recording feedback pathways by accident. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_I...
