Re: A little help on making voice louder

<<<We did not record each instruments individually.>>> So that's the death sentence right there. If it was multi-track, or a stereo multi-miked show with mixer and pan pots, you'd have a fighting chance, but you can't undo this. Vocal Removal or Vocal Isolation only work on stereo shows and even the...

Re: exported files cause crash

<<<I have plenty of room on both external HDs.>>> And the System Drive? How full is that one? Do you perform the "periodic" command line tools or run MacJanitor? Verify Disk and Repair Permissions? All drives on a video machine should have at least 10% free space at bare minimum. <<<I stil...

Re: Automatic track separation

Which doesn't work on expressive classical music or noisy records. Expressive classical music has silences built in and noisy records never shut up.

This is where you decide whether you really want to rescue all those records you haven't listened to in ten years.

Re: Amplify / Normalize problem...Help

Do you get very many red lines when you Defragment? I assume all the drives make it through Windows Error Check?

Audacity will not run into a fragmented drive and it will certainly not work into a drive with errors. Both can get worse over time.

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound

You don't have to go nuts with the headphones, either. As a first pass, I bought a set of Sony MDR-V150. I think they were $30 at the Borders Bookstore on Maui. They're claim to fame is not that they're particularly accurate, they're just OK, but I can stand to listen to them for a very long time wi...

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound

Yes, you really can't hear what you're doing unless the sound system is up to it. There was a commercial a while back of a guy cutting together his movie on his laptop on the flight back from the live shoot. I guarantee he didn't cut the sound like that. That's my system... http://www.kozco.com/mytv...

Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound

<<<Note the level doesn't change.>>>

We also note that listening on my laptop speakers, there is no difference between the first four phrases and the rest of the clip. On my killer sound system® there is a substantial change.

Re: Speed of mp3 files

You might try loading the weird file by itself and converting it to the standard of the rest of the show. Export a fresh version at the new standards and try to edit with that. The conversion spells are all in this thread. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10190&start=0 Koz
