Re: Copy+Paste sound to new window, lowering of pitch

I don't need to listen to it. The sound standards of the clips you're using are different from each other. Audacity is a terrible converter. Actually, it doesn't convert at all -- particularly 1.2. If you try to combine music clips with different bit depths and sample rates, the chance for success i...

Re: reducing file size???

Ummmmmm. Oh. There it is. Audacity 1.2.6. Audacity 1.2 allows you to tune the MP3 compression in the Preferences. Audacity 1.3 allows you to directly tune it in the Export step which is faster. If you started out life at MP3 256, try dropping to 128 or whatever the next lower number is. 192?? Be sur...

Re: Time-wasting buggy behaviour

<<<I wouldn't dream of using this software seriously. >>> I would definitely stop using it. If it's causing you that much trouble, it's totally not worth messing with. Did you try "reinstalling" by deleting the audacity.cfg file and resetting your Preferences? Go > Home > Library > Applica...

Re: exported files cause crash

I don't see why not.

So you see the problem. Shortly you will be not one, not two, but three operating systems behind. Panther, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard.

If you don't need to interface with all these fancy-pants sound services, you'd be good to go just where you were.

Re: Speed of playback

The reason nobody is racing to your rescue is that the problem can't be happening -- based on your description. Get Graphic. Exactly what is your microphone, how is it connected and to what kind of computer? Model numbers, manufacturers. Everything is good. http://www.kozco.com/tech/piano2.wav Save ...

Re: lost audio (sound) while recording is visible

Where are we in time? You captured the performance and you're playing it back now, or it's doing funny things while you capture? Is this before or after you Saved Project? I can't tell from the question.

Re: have to re-boot a lot

I'm a lot less interested in the software drivers than I am in how it went the last time you defragmented and error checked your hard drive. How big is it and how full is it? Is it the only hard drive on the system and how are the others connected?

Re: exported files cause crash

Calm down. The elves that run the forum live all 'round the world. It could take up to 12 hours for someone to get back to you. You will be installing Tiger, not Panther. There is no Panther combination that will work for you. I don't see where you told us what kind of machine you have. I have Tiger...
