Re: Stereo Export to MP3

When I load the stereo mp3 into Audacity 2.3.3 in Windows 10 Pro and export the file, it combines the stereo into mono
Audacity 2.3.3 has an MP3 Export Option called Force Mono.

Re: clip fix not working for me

This is a badly mismatched microphone system which clips at the 50% mark or -6ddB.

According the Clip Fix, that's not broken because the damage isn't happening up at 100% where it's expected.

Re: clip fix not working for me

not sure what the "red line" is about. That's the timeline in Waveform display rather than Waveform dB as selected with the dropdown menu on the left. The red line comes from View > Show Clipping. At that instant, one tiny portion of the waves hit maximum or overload. Under those conditio...

Re: clip fix not working for me

Even worse. I think you may be clipping at -6dB instead of 0dB. That, too is hard to see in Waveform dB. That's a microphone operation or connection problem.

Re: clip fix not working for me

Why are you in Waveform dB instead of straight Waveform? That can be deceiving because most of the valuable work is in the loudest 25dB of the show and that's what Audacity displays in Waveform. It's unfortunate it's labeled in percent instead of dB, but maybe in a future release.... Anyway, in Wave...

Re: Peak and Floor levels

I see. You did post a live link. " Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morgan , the liveried footman called out as they entered...." I didn't pull it down and inspect it for waveforms but it doesn't appear to have anything theatrical broken. It's a good voice for reading. That explains why the client wan...

Re: clip fix not working for me

See that one thin red line? That's what clip fix was designed to repair. Not many seconds of massive overload and distortion. OneClip.png Clip Fix works by comparing the single clipped wave to the healthy waves before and after and makes a best-guess what the original wave may have looked like. Of c...

https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Noise_Gate https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins_on_windows.html I've never used Noise Gate, so this is as much as I know. Noise Gate's job is to reduce sound below a certain volume. You set it...

Re: trying to draw out spoken words behind loud static noise.

you can hear what thecoversation is about. What's the goal? Are we trying to make a podcast from the voices? You can try Effect > Noise Reduction. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/noise_reduction.html Drag-select some noise-only. No voices. Effect > Noise Reduction > Profile . Then select the wh...
