Re: Stero Mix just stopped working!?

<<<I got Stereo Mix working in yesterday,>>>

By "working" do you mean you made a recording? We hang on your every word, so it's good to be careful.

Re: Edit while recording

What I'm trying to get to is who decides you're going to break and start managing files? Are you the producer? No matter what you do and in which package, you're going to need to stop and save the work -- or Export in the case of Audacity. The only packages that don't have to do are the surveillance...

Re: Using the wiki...

That's it.

How did you find it?

Step by step, please. I'm a newbie.

Re: Wiki. The land of no return...

The forum is never missing. I have it at the top of my web site navigation page...

http://kozco.com/sites/sites.html

But I noticed that there are certainly links to other external help services, but if you started out life in Wiki Top, you would never know the forum was out there.

Re: Playback speed ultra fast

Another hint. You can change iTunes Import preferences to WAV Auto instead of the more exotic compression schemes. The default iTunes format is AAC (M4A) 128 (as I recall). I wouldn't be surprised if your captures appeared at 44100, 16-bit, Stereo WAV files...

Re: How to: (Normalize) or "vertically center" an audio trac

The repair isn't free, either. The amount of offset (downward in this case) is subtracted from the capture loudness. You cut off the numbers on the left and right, so we can't tell how bad it is, but if the piece on the right is typical of the show, you have a badly damaged sound card or capture dev...

Re: Zooming to whole project

The Koz Version of that is Control-E to zoom into the selection and then Control-3 to zoom out slightly. These two key combinations may leave you very close to where you were when you started the edit. It's very fast. E and 3 are next to each other.

Re: Faulty MP3 and WAV playback of projects

Does your machine have a built-in microphone? The instructions aren't clear which models have and which ones don't. If you do, set up to record the built-in microphone in Audacity. Set Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo (or maybe mono). Forget Windows Media, forget MIDI, forget the keyboa...

Re: No speaker attached, can I record my voice and playback

How did you find a Dell computer without speakers? Is it a deskside? You don't get the Windows sounder when you turn the computer on? Almost all computers with a sound card have a place to plug Headphones. So we'll start there. It doesn't matter what kind of headphones. I have a variety of different...
