Re: Yes it Did Work Koz
It's best to post one question by itself and then we all beat up the answer in that one thread by clicking POST REPLY. You reply the same way. There is at least one question that went on to six chapters with multiple opinions, instructions, and conversations, but all in a line and all pertaining to ...
Re: Red Book
Your burning software doesn't care, as a rule, about the data size of your show. It goes strictly by time. 80 minutes per CD. The Burning and Authoring software does, however, have to recognize your sound files and be able to open them. One way to prepare the sound files is to resample them to Red B...

Re: Source of recording device not recognized
Our first problem is Audacity 1.2 no longer supports modern Macs. The combination of Mac/Intel/Leopard pretty much killed off 1.2.5. It was a nice run. So when you remove Audacity 1.2.5, be sure to trash the preference files so as not to have cross contamination. Trash Mac Audacity Preferences http:...

Re: Do repeated exports of same MP3 file degrade quality?
The down side to doing that is they're big. People are stunned to find their 35MB hour-long stereo show converts to a 700MB wav file.

Re: Surround Sound
You may not. There was a thread a while back where they talked about that. Audacity will not play multiple tracks (over 2), so as long as you didn't need to actually hear the work, you could edit individual tracks. Blind. Or deaf, I guess. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11172...

Re: Importing Saved Audacity Projects to work with again
You're not supposed to mess around inside the /data folder and you're not supposed to mess around with any of the Project files. Projects are complex and brittle and can have multiple files. People break them all the time. Once you Save a Project, you can't move or rename or change anything. The fil...

Re: playback individual recordings
You can also Solo or Mute each track with the Solo or Mute buttons to the left of each track. Mute is pretty easy, but Solo plays that one track and mutes everything else. Most big audio consoles have a set of both.

Re: playback individual recordings
You can select the whole bottom song, copy and paste it to the end of the top song. Delete the bottom song. If you Record-Pause the first show, you can pick up again with the beginning of the second show by taking it out of Record-Pause. Try this on a simple, non critical show to get used to the key...

What else is on your machine? Skype? Vonage? Voip phone calls? Internet phone calls take over your computer sound system, and many times don't give it back. You may need to reset the pathways in Windows Control Panel. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_I...

Edit > UNDO. Also Apple-Z or Control-Z. If you Exported a WAV file, then the effects are permanently burned into the new WAV file. If you're still in your original project, just UNDO your way out of trouble. You may also be experiencing why it's good to Export a WAV of your original capture or produ...
