You may not. There was a thread a while back where they talked about that. Audacity will not play multiple tracks (over 2), so as long as you didn't need to actually hear the work, you could edit individual tracks. Blind. You can also Solo or Mute each track with the Solo or Mute buttons to the left of each track. Mute is pretty easy, but Solo plays that one track and mutes everything else. Most big audio consoles have a set of both.
