Re: echo while recording

You're probably listening to Stereo Mix (the computer output) and the Line-In at the same time. One will be late compared to the other. Sometimes you get get this by having too many things turned on in the Windows Control Panel. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixe...

Re: Like Your Input for Audacity Use on our Radio Show

You can struggle along with MP3; there are software packages which will edit MP3s without the degradation, but you only get really simple tools. No noise reduction or equalization. Somebody said you could do volume control, but I wonder about that. As a fuzzy rule, WAV is the production format and M...

Re: Help With An Off Vocal Track (sample mp3 included)

<<<I know there's clipping (but it doesn't seem like much)>>> There is no good clipping. If you have clipping or channel overload, you have a damaged performance and even the desperation method clip fixers will never restore the musical quality to the voice. So that's step one. There was a thread a ...

Missing Time Window

I know what I'm missing. I'm in Mac 1.3.7 and I'm flying through an edit session and suddenly realized I was taking many extra steps because I couldn't tell how much of the show I had during a drag-select. I couldn't select a point and drag to another point xx seconds earlier without doing painful m...

Re: Help for a newbie please

Find the beginning of a clip that you want, and set a label, Control-B, then find the end of the clip, and put another label, Control-B. The labels become sticky or magnetic and let you drag-select your clip accurately. File > Export Selection > WAV format. Put the exported WAV file into the burning...

Re: Source of recording device not recognized

Don't install the SoundSoap. Audacity 1.2 may have needed that because its noise removal was pretty dreadful, but the noise removal in 1.3 is quite good. We have one poster complaining about SoundSoap license nagging. <<<I'm a recent Mac convert from Windows PC >>> Welcome to the light side. Do you ...

Re: Some technique of Audacity I would like to know

Put the first song on a timeline and then Tracks > Add New. Paste the second song into the second timeline. They will both play together subject to the Solo and Mute buttons on left. After you get it there, you can use all the timeline manipulation tools like Align and Time Shift as well as all the ...

Re: How to make a song play at gradually increasing volume?

You're probably expecting little boxes or entry forms where you put times and dB values in, but I think the closest we can get to that is the envelope tools. Two white arrows and bent blue line in the tool window. Click on that and it will present a rubber band over your show. You can push the graph...
