Re: Using VOIP Phones to record interviews?

VOIP communications recordings need to made with purpose-built software. In order for VOIP to work at all, the program has to completely take over the sound channels, both directions. The capture software packages have to be aware of each other. I know of no general purpose audio program that can do...

Re: Noise Removal

Maybe Not. Noise Removal is for constant background noises that continue without change over the course of the show. Air Conditioner rumble. Fan noise. Bad microphone hum or buzz. For you we need to fix a bad capture. How are you connected? You're playing an instrument into an amplifier and you have...

Re: Noise Removal

Yes. Stop using Audacity 1.2. The noise removal tools in Audacity 1.3 will wipe the floor with 1.2. The tools work in two steps. Noise Profile where you pick a portion of the show with noise only. No performance at all. [OK]. Then launch the tool again and select a portion of the actual performance ...

Re: clipping/distorted tracks while recording

The Apple Preference Panel lists a Mic-In in order to select the panel's built-in microphone. On my iMac, it's a little hole just to the left of the camera on the top panel. Obviously, this isn't going to capture the guitar electrical signal. <<<I'd be surprised if that is the problem>>> I totally e...

Re: Opening a file crashes Audacity

<<<I tried to open a .wav file >>> <<<They all open up>>> "It" is different from "They All." How many of these files do you have? How long are you expecting them to play? Restart the machine. Play and capture this six second piano solo. http://www.kozco.com/tech/piano2.wav Can yo...

Alphabetic Listings

Sorry to post a forum problem in this forum, although, I guess it's strictly a Wiki problem.

http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... l:Allpages

Can someone take a minute and arrange this page in straight vertical alphabetic columns instead of zig-zag left to right?

Thanks,

Koz

Re: Use of Audacity as a multi-track recorder

<<<Recording in steps seems to be impossible. >>> ...in 1.2. Audacity 1.3 has an append recording hotkey that I don't know the value of without looking it up. Then there's Record Pause, which will just pick right up where it left off -- assuming you don't press Stop. <<<I have recorded a backing tra...
