I didn't find any way to change the defaults (open audacity.cfg in a text editor). The generators are a constant source of entertainment. There are many different digital encoding techniques running around and they all do one thing really well at the expense of everything else. You can convert music files between different methods using iTunes, Supe...
Re: 1.2.x
1.2 hasn't been worked on in quite a while. There are certain newer computers and OSs that will no longer run any 1.2 Audacity.

Fade by dB seems to work exactly correctly. Intel Duo Core Mac Mini. OS-X 10.5.7 Leopard Audacity 1.3.8 Current Beta However... If you have an earlier Mac, you will not be able to UnZip anything. Select the file and Open With BOM Archive Helper or BOM Helper or something like that. I don't remember ...

<<<for the perfect alarm clock.>>>
Maybe not so perfect. You'd need to wake up every hour or so to make sure the computer didn't crash.

Re: Audio
There is a Mac Service called Finder > Services > Speech which will try and read out loud printed text. I don't know if it knows how to read a PowerPoint or not. Audacity won't do that. You can set the timing of the PowerPoint, play it through once and. while you're watching it, record in Audacity t...
