Re: Default tmp location?
It's a folder. See the "D" on the left of the listing? That's Directory (Folder). Darn good question. I don't know. Drag your Audacity application to the trash and see if the folder vanishes. It should, but then that's assuming a normal install. When I get a minute. I'll post step by step ...

Re: Bizarre behavior
Yes, all that, but my Logitech microphone only works when I set Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Mono. Not stereo.

<<<delete the audacity.cfg file before you install the new version>>>
It's a grand idea.
Go > Home > Library > Application Support > Trash the whole audacity folder.

Re: 1.3.8 fails to start. Asking for Native Instruments Fold
<<<Tries to launch, beachball of death, crash.>>> That's a terrific clue. You get the SBBOD when the time allocated for a task is greatly exceeded. Are you running out of drive space? Go > Computer > System Drive (on the left) > File > Get INFO. Never go to greater than 90% full. How many applicatio...

That's the microphone that I have. RCA 44BX. Classic ribbon. It only responds from the two flat sides, not the sides with the logos or the top.

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
I'm arm-wrestling with my website host, so I can't post pictures for a while. I was reading the instructions for the microphone and they leave out a couple of really important items. They suggest, but don't come right out and tell you that the microphone, typical of ribbons, has no pickup from the s...

Re: Also issues opening stored project
<<<I tried to open the file that I recorded last night >>> You tried to open the Audacity Project you created last night. Audacity does not Save sound files and Projects can have many different files and folders. Once you Save a Project, you can't move or change any of the Project files. Do you reme...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
<<<The manual states that you can use unbalanced cabling>>> You can, but with conditions. The technology used to create the preamplifier balanced output dictates the wiring of the adapter cable. If you have a line-level transformer in the output of your preamp, it is required that you tie XLR pins o...
