Re: 1.3X always crashes
<<<im not sure it is plugins>>> It doesn't have to be obvious. A whole raft of software sound managers showed up with my sound capture program and created grief for several days until I tracked it down. The old version of the program didn't have them. It took a note to the programmers to find them a...

Re: Vocals too distorted.
<<<I'm taking a 3.5mm cable to run out of my headphone slot straight to my microphone slot.>>> That only works on Macs or very large PCs with multi-port sound cards. Microphone-In on a sound card is very sensitive and easily overloaded by the signal at the headset output. Some laptop computers can s...

Re: Urgent Help: Recording With Skype on XP
No. You need the "Good" version of Pamela. Pamela "knows" how to manage both directions of a Skype call.

Skype seriously messes with the computer internal sound pathways during its operation. All sorts of messy things happen with that program.

Re: clicks in audio
You're only missing one speedup trick. Download and run MacJanitor or run Periodic from the command line. http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html I'm more interested in that sound file. Open in QuickTime and Apple-I to get the INFO panel. What does that say? Don't reinstall anything...

Re: Orphaned/Missing Audio Blockfields Problem
Are you filling up your hard drive? Not likely on a machine that new, but still. What's the capacity of the System Drive and how much is left? Any external drives mounted? Have you performed a Disk Verify? Go > Utilities > Disk Utility > System Drive > Verify Drive You understand you can't move, del...

Re: Eliminating background noise on video
Normally, yes, but you don't have noise. You have co-stars in the performance. Noise reduction as a rule works on noise that doesn't change. Air conditioning rumble, microphone hiss. It works by comparing a short segment of noise-only with noise plus performance. It subtracts the two and you're left...

Re: Getting .wavs to a CD
When you use the default settings for all the programs on a Mac, it assumes you want to make an iPod presentation to take with you parasailing at the beach. Audacity assumes you want to make a very, very good quality, multiple pass, edit session. Music CD isn't directly compatible with either one. I...

Re: Getting .wavs to a CD
A few term definitions would be good. Music CD is a very specific format defined by the Red Book document in 1980. It takes a Music CD authoring program to prepare the music for burning in a very specific way. Some common programs that do this are Windows Media (later versions), iTunes, Nero, Verita...

Re: My S come out too sharp
If you increase the volume of your capture and the pleasant, clear vocal performance starts becoming harsh, sharp and crunchy, then you are overloading the sound channel. If you do that enough and just right, it's fatal to the show. The object is to capture the show at whatever volume results in a c...

Re: endless playing
<<<I want to keep playing it endlessly without using a computer.>>> What's the show? If you have a series of individual music segments separated by silence and you put them on a CD player with Auto Repeat, then you can come back in six weeks and they will still be looping. Most people want to do thi...
