Re: Required software extensions are missing

You're downloading and running alpha software because you're a developer? It can't be because you want to use it for sound production.

Re: Opening file

<<<It didn't save a project file anywhere that I'm aware of.>>> If you clicked "Save" anywhere in the process, then Audacity created a Project. Audacity will not Save a sound file. To get a stand-alone, normal sound file that you can do stuff with, you have to Export One. File > Export As ...

Re: Help with editing large files in Audacity

I don't. I'm almost all the way over to using Macs now. Somebody posted a list of editors on the forum, but I can't find it and the forum search is no help. It doesn't have to be much. You don't need effects or anything fancy, you can use Audacity for that later. You just need generic file managemen...

<<comb type effect that you can hear in Mike's clip is caused by Noise Removal>>>

Did we ever establish if he was in Audacity 1.2? I, too, would kill to get a straight capture.

Re: Help with editing large files in Audacity

The problem is not the MP3 file, the problem is what Audacity has to turn it into to edit. The 15 hour presentation turns into about a 12 GB project when uncompressed. So with all the UNDOs and effects and production, you need about 15GB or so of memory. Not hard drive, memory. Nobody has that, so t...

Crash Recovery http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery <<<I chose not to delete the temporary files and have copied those off to a safe place.>>> Audacity is extraordinarily sensitive to configuration. You may need to put all those files back where they were for Crash Recovery to ...

Re: Distortion Level - Clipping: red indicators absent

<<<I'm using 1.3.7>>> You know you posted in the Audacity 1.2 forum, right? <<<still cant get the markers to work!>>> In Audacity they're call Labels and they're only handy in generic editing for finding edit points and then later for exporting multiple songs from one track. I thought the complaint ...

Re: Error 4880 when burning CDs in iTunes

I rarely let CD burning happen at maximum speed. x24 and I usually settle for x16. I keep a worst case CD player around to test my work. It's an old portable Panasonic and it's particular about the kind of CD it will play. The first clue you're running into trouble is the burner makes more noise tha...
