Re: Project detected missing audio blockfile (.au)
Most people should not be using Projects at all. Audacity will not Save a sound file and that's what a very large number of people think they're getting. File > Export as WAV to get a real sound file. As for missing au files. did you try to move your project, delete any files, rename anything or cha...

Re: Remove Low-Level Hum
My personal preference is to go with the noise removal first. There are some very good controls (in Audacity 1.3) that allow a delicate touch so you can remove the trash and not much else. Once you use the notch filters, those sounds are gone forever, performance or not, and there's no guarantee you...

Re: Recording question
I'm not sure. I don't have vista and most of the sound capture work is on a Mac. We'll need to wait for one of the Windows helpers to drop by.

Re: input recoding levels
Do all streams fail? If you try to record the track from a YouTube video, is that left-only, too?
Here's a six second clip from my web site. Guaranteed in Stereo. Most browsers try to play it in real time. Can you capture that?

Re: Delay effect moves my whole track back to zero...
Is snapping turned on in the lower part of the window? Sometimes you can work around problems like that by adding short silent stretches before and after. It sounds like you may have a broken vocal track. Is it a foreign track, or is it you singing? Export the track as a WAV and bring it back in aga...

Re: Sudden noise on Windows2000
Yes, the noise is likely the USB bitstream becoming corrupted during the transmission. Do write back and tell us what you found. With machines that old, are you sure you don't have a USB mismatch? One of my Win2K machines only supports USB 1.1 and doing transfers with that one is really painful and ...

Re: i still cant get the hang of.....
<<<this is a music file not a live performance...>>> What's wrong with it? And don't tell me "It's noisy." I got it that far. What kind of noise? What is it about the performance you're trying to fix? We also note that the more highly compressed the performance, the less successful the red...

Re: i still cant get the hang of.....
Some notes. The noise reduction in Audacity 1.2 sucks, almost always. So in Audacity 1.3... You don't let it get a profile, you have to force it. Find a portion of the show with noise only and no performance. Get the profile from that noisy section. Then select the whole show (or a small portion if ...
