Re: Using Audacity to record line in guitar while playing th
Yes. That's a fairly common request. You can do that multiple times, too and use the mute and solo controls on the left to control which tracks you hear on playback. You, too, can be all four Andrews Sisters. Given your computer and drives are up to it.... You may discover some amusing problems with...

Re: Accessibility and Section 508
You may run into some interesting problems with that. Audacity 1.2 is the current "stable" version and widely considered completely outdated, unacceptable and in some cases unworkable. Audacity 1.3 is Beta software and most agencies will not authorize it. Someone else posted with a similar...

Re: STEREO TO MONO
Delete the Convert Back To Stereo step if you really wanted a mono show (most people don't). You can make the one remaining track mono.

Re: STEREO TO MONO
Split the stereo timeline. Select the (formerly) Right and delete it. Select the Left and Duplicate Track. Convert back to Stereo. All these tools change -- a lot -- depending on which Audacity you have and which computer. The down side of posting on a generic forum. That's not the only way, but tha...

Re: File size became bigger
There are programs out there that can directly edit an MP3 file without recompression. I don't know if they can resample after editing without damage.

Re: File size became bigger
You didn't really shorten up a three-hour show. You opened the show up in Audacity which converted it to an uncompressed WAV file (internally) for editing. Then, when you were finished, Audacity converted the show back to MP3. The conversion back to MP3 follows the rules in the lame encoder and they...

Re: Only getting the left channel.
Change the computer? <<<microphone jack on the back of my computer>>> The microphone jack is mono. Usually left-only. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html Most computers know that people don't want real mono, so they copy the "Left" signal (the connector tip) to b...

<<<Vestex PMC-280>>> It's "Vestax." http://www.vestax.com/v/products/mixers/pmc-280.html You have the Mac plugged into Line-2 on the back of the mixer? Line-1 is plugged into the sound system, right? The company is making this as difficult as possible. There's no downloadable instruction b...

Re: Auto "Fit Project"
It's been fixed in newer Audacity code. They're still messing with it. Until they get it straightened out, here's a shortcut. When it goes out, it's doing Control-F -- zoom Full. After it goes out, Control-E to zoom into the silence, then Control-3 to zoom back out slightly. The keys are right next ...
