<<<SO, DO WE THINK THE RCA JACKS ON THE CASSETTE MACHINE DON'T WORK? IS THAT THE MOST LIKELY ISSUE?>>> That almost has to be it. <<<ONLY A HEADPHONES OUT JACK. WILL THAT WORK?>>> Yes, but is it a large headphone jack or a smaller one? Whatever it is, you need an adapter cable to get from that to the...

<<<Mac Powerbook 1.25 GHz PowerPC, Leopard OS 10.5.8>>> G4?? Cooo. Now that it's too late, I so totally wouldn't do that. Tiger got along really well with all the "G" processors and Leopard gets along really well with the Intel processors. They can be forced to cross... I do have one machi...

Re: Reducing "Crunchy" Guitar Noise From Concert Audio
I don't think anybody standing in the audience with a camcorder ever got a good recording of a band. We're talking about amazing sound fields way louder than the poor microphone was designed to handle. My last concert was Nina Hagen performing in Ford's Theater. Yes, that Nina Hagen. Yes, that Ford'...

Split Off Meters...*Really* Split
I think all the Audacitys do this. I pull off the meters so I can blow them up and see them easier. They become crippled separate applications. I minimize the main program (yellow button) to do something else on the desktop, I need to keep pushing the meters out of the way. They don't follow the mai...

Your test is significantly noisier than mine (I'm on top). http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Silence/KozMBPSilent.jpg http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Silence/kayMBPSilent.jpg Have a good time at the genius bar. A quick look at the numbers. 40 Hz is the frequency of one of the pedals of a church ...

<<<I am looking into an Apple Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow>>> They're really good, but I'd be surprised if they can figure this one out. Apple Service works by naturally assuming everything you're doing is screwed up. They divorce/disconnect the computer from the whole world and test it in a ...

Do you have an iPod? A real one? Any vintage? How about a stereo jumper cable like this... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102949 ...or this. Even better... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102970 Connect the iPod to the MBP via the short jumper cable and...

Re: Constant high-pitched humming, buzzing, whining
That's fascinating. There's just a festival of things wrong with that last sample. The audible hum is only the most obvious symptom -- and even that's not "normal."
I need to beat it up a little more. Don't take anything back or buy anything else for a while.
