Re: Filter based on profile
That's basically what Noise Reduction does. The noise reducer works in two steps. Get A Profile where you expose the tool to the evil sound, and then Apply The Correction where it tries to remove the evil sound from the show. Only the tool in Audacity 1.3 works. Don't bother with the one in 1.2. Now...

Re: bug eating my mix
<<<So that was my error?>>> I believe that is a perfectly valid way to do it, however you can still have missing clip problems. Projects: mymix1 mymix2 mymix3 There is a sound clip somewhere on the desktop that is carefully incorporated into each of those projects, say rhythm.wav. If you select that...

Re: Recording problem
One more. You can install both Audacity 1.2 and 1.3 safely. They "know" about each other. Just don't try running them both at once.

Re: Using Audacity with Traktor 3 LE DJ Software
You might not. Audacity is a very simple audio program and it likes running on very simple machines. A multi-channel, multi-program machine such as you describe is a killer. You may try the latest Audacity 1.3.8 from the download web site. That one is much better able to handle layered sound pathway...

Re: Easy/Cheap PreAmp?
<<<So how can I tell if my windows laptop can convert mic line in to stereo line in?>>> There is no "Mic Line In." There is mono, low level, Mic-In and Stereo, high level, Line-In. Each laptop does it differently. Some give you a level control or switch, some actually have a blue Stereo Li...

Re: Newbie needs tips for Remixing Songs to make a Mashup!
<<<1. Syncing the pitch. Remixes don't work unless all the songs are in the same key! It seems that different parts of the song are in different keys. This probably isn't true, and the changing pitch isn't registering it.>>> You can avoid problems like this if all your music clips are converted to W...

Re: Recording problem
In either the first or second page of Audacity Preferences, there should be two selections; Hardware Playthrough, and Software Playthrough. Pick the one that gives you the fewest weird problems. You may need to restart Audacity for the changes to "stick." You will no doubt figure out that ...

Re: Recording your voice to sound like another voice
I think there are paid packages out there that can make your pitch and timbre similar to somebody else, but nobody can change the actual words you're saying. D'ya ken what om talkin' aboot? I saw a piece somebody did on "Julie and Julia" star Meryl Streep. The main idea of the piece was he...

Re: bug eating my mix
It's not the computer. Chances are, it's the owner. Audacity does not Save sound files, it Saves Projects. Projects are insanely complicated affairs with multiple clip management and environment tracking. And multiple files. Once you save your first Project, you can't move or change anything on your...

Re: Easy/Cheap PreAmp?
Not on a Windows Laptop, no. If you have a larger Windows Deskside machine or a Mac, then chances are you have a Line-In and you can plug the Bass or any guitar pickup straight in. Some Windows laptops have the ability to convert their Microphone Input to a stereo Line-In. Most don't. So you may be ...
