Re: Midi Files

Midi files aren't sound files. Midi files are instructions to a Midi player how to produce the music, like a player piano. You put the roll of paper in and it plays music. Put the same roll of paper in a different piano and you get the same song, but different piano sounds. Midi is the roll of paper...

Re: the noise removal

Best to use the noise reduction in Audacity 1.3. Not the one in 1.2.

Re: Split Off Meters...*Really* Split

<<<That isn't true in 1.3.8 on Windows - the meter should disappear if you minimise Audacity or task switch away.>>> I'm fairly certain that's not true. I made it a point to do this test on one of the 1.3.8 programs to make sure nobody fixed it when my back was turned. Any particular one you want me...

Re: just getting started

<<<about 80 min worth, give or take.>>> It better be take. The actual minute count on a standard Music CD is something like 79:30. Go over that and the Music CD Authoring Program will make you start over. <<<can i go back and put more audio on.>>> Nope. Music CDs are CD-R. One shot and throw it out. ...

Re: Error message when opening Audacity

Audacity > Preferences > Directories. That should point you to a hidden folder like /tmp/koz....something. And it will give you a ...

Skype/Pamela Product Info

I did a little digging on the question of recording both sides of a Skype session for a production environment. Pamela Professional and Pamela Business will happily capture a Skype conversation as a stereo audio show with one direction on the left and the other direction on the right. I have no idea...

Re: Error message when opening Audacity

From the top bar on the desktop.

Go > Computer > Select your Hard Drive > File > Get Info.

My drive says Capacity 74GB and Available 28GB. What are your numbers?

Do you have any attached hard drives like USB or FireWire?

Re: Recording a voice over with an interactive video

<<<What kind of software would we need to invest in in order for the doctor's voice to be heard instead of the previously recorded voice?>>> I think this is the magic phrase. I think this is not a paid job. I think this is somebody making a custom mashup by removing an existing voice in a video and ...

Re: how to connect pre-amp

No. A Phono Preamplifier corrects for vinyl distortion. If you connect anything else, the show will sound seriously weird.
