Re: Cheap Multitrack Overdubbing
they don't change either their phone or their computer. All that depends on all the computers and phones working right. If you get one performer whose music wanders and never seems to be in sync, or worse, will sync at both ends but not in the middle, then that computer may be broken. We had at lea...

Re: Cheap Multitrack Overdubbing
You create the rhythm or backing track that everyone is going to play to. You don't need overdubbing. Just straight record your side of the performance, or Generate > Metronome. Export that as a stand-alone sound track. You can use highly compressed MP3 since that's never going to appear in the show...

Re: Peak and Floor levels
Then you don't need additional noise reduction at all.Noise 70.3
If you can do that and sound OK, that's all it takes.

Re: Peak and Floor levels
Noise isn't a Pass/Fail thing. You should pay attention to the actual numbers. The ACX Noise limit is -60dB. As long as your noise numbers are quieter than, say -65dB, you should be good to go. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=384351#p384351 If most of your noise settles around -62dB o...

Re: looks like stereo, but it's no
Here's a test track I made earlier.

Re: Peak and Floor levels
If you record well in a quiet, echo-free room, it should be possible to apply Audiobook Mastering and pass everything. Noise should pass by at least -65dB (quieter), not just the ACX limit of -60dB. If you can do that, then it's export an Edit Master WAV and go on to the next chapter. ACX likes all ...

Re: Peak and Floor levels
Noise is as close as we get to black magic. So I went ahead and recorded without the Noise Reduction What you're supposed to do is open up the raw WAV file. That's why you saved your first raw recording—and hopefully copied it to a safe place. Another good possibility is Edit > UNDO until you get ba...
