Re: Save compressed copy...useless?
All perfectly valid ideas, but you do need to pay attention to how Audacity is thinking. We tell people they can't move, change, backup or modify Projects because, in the vast majority of cases, they can't. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg If you've never opened up an AUP file, that's a pictu...

Is it possible you're just looking in the wrong place? File > Export > Export As... (on the bottom). Did you download a new lame library with the new Audacity, or are you trying to use the old Audacity 1.2 lame. This should be the correct one. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows Koz

Re: NO SOUND
Do you use Skype? The cable you're using is a 3.5mm stereo plug on one end and two RCAs (red and white) on the other, right? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2945487&CatId=453 Unplug the RCAs from the boom box. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sou...

Re: Audigy Platinum Sound card with phantom powered micropho
I wouldn't be surprised if they made you turn off the sound card's phantom power. See bottom illustration here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html I would not want the AT phantom 48VDC getting mixed up with the sound card's 5VDC. That's the compulsive engineer talking, ...

Re: Cannot reduce line-in level on Mac - causes distortion
Close Audacity. Apply a known good working Line level cable to the Line-In connection (circle and two black arrows). Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Select the built-in Line-In. Play some music. The blue patch volume meter should jump and it should change with the volume contr...

Re: Stereo tracks playing in left channel only
In steps... Change Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo from wherever it is now. Restart Audacity. That might clear your Stereo recording problem. Open your mono music on the timeline. Track > New Track. Select all the music in the first track and paste it into the second. Make sure your cu...

Re: Sample Rate, Sample Format, and Storage Size in Recordin
You're not the first to experience the "hey, wait!" moment. Somebody a while ago discovered that Audacity 24-bit was really 16-bit with extra zeros to make up the difference.
