Re: Disappearing .aup files!
<<<my hard drive has plenty of space on it.>>> We hear that from people who have no space left on their hard drive. All others give us actual numbers. <<<Perhaps windows IS hiding the files from me.>>> Wouldn't be the first time. From memory... My Computer > Explore > Folder Options > Show Hidden Fi...

Re: Good Old Latency Problem
<<<I uninstalled, re-downloaded, and reinstalled the old version of Audacity. This did nothing.>>> Did the new Audacity ask you "English?" when you started it? If it didn't, then you didn't really reinstall Audacity. But that's not what your problem is. If the computer inexplicably slows d...

Re: Disappearing .aup files!
My first reaction is to start ripping the computer apart with various tests and inspection programs, but there might be a simpler explanation. You can make a Windows machine crazy if you use illegal filenames. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore, and dash. That's the whole list of char...

Re: 1.3.8 Truncate Silence Issue
The Audacity 1.3.7 > 1.3.8 transition was difficult. There were some very serious changes to the way Audacity does things and there were some surprises. I use 1.3.7 for production.

Re: removing a label
Since you're working OK with the current version, I would stick with it. Version 1.3 has much better production tools and conveniences. You can put both on your machine as long as you don't use them at once. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2 If you need noise reduction, for example, the onl...

The answer changes a lot depending on what kind of computer you have. Laptop, Windows XP, etc.

Re: removing a label
Audacity 1.2.5 is for the Intel machines, not the PowerPC G machines.

Re: removing a label
The labels are their own track and aren't really "glued" to the show. You shouldn't change the show after you put the labels in. However, Your problem, I'll bet, is Audacity 1.2. If you have Mac/Intel/Tiger, you should be on Audacity 1.2.5. If you have Mac/Intel/Leopard, you should be on A...

Re: importing question
You can't "make" them into WAV files. You have to use a CD ripper program like iTunes or cdex. Music on a Music CD is a special, custom version of WAV to save space.

Re: Removing Bass from V Festival MP3 recording
<<<I have done this and there seems to be no difference.>>> That's because what you think you need and what you actually need are different. Very few people taking videos at rock concerts walk away with good or even marginal sound tracks. The bass sound at a rock concert can be measured with earthqu...
