Re: A song I made in Audacity (needs work)

We'll see what we can do, but next time you post for universal access, try to conform to safe filename guidelines: numbers, upper and lower case letters, dash and underscore only. Some systems don't much like spaces, either. NASA_Song_Track-01.wav That's why you sometimes see files written like that...

Re: Can't see opened aup file

Next time you want to save a sound file of your show, don't use save. Audacity does not Save sound files. Instead, Export As WAV. A WAV file is a single, excellent quality sound file that you can then make into other things and versions like MP3s, or combine with other WAV files into mashups and pla...

Don't upgrade anything just ahead of a job.

We got a note from the System Administrators at work that there are significant problems between Snow Leopard and our corporate network infrastructure.

Re: Can't Load Module error in Windows 7

This is the first version of Audacity that went out actively looking for plugins to install. The forum instantly filled up with people whose Audacity would not run because of odd, damaged, or unrecognized plugins. The other applications do not have to be running. They load their own plugins and go t...

Re: complete nub.

Multiple tracks are not normally done with the sound card. The computer and sound card are just the recorder (formerly tape machine) and the real production is done in increasingly more complicated sound mixers. I don't know if we reviewed any multiple-input sound cards, but you can start here. http...

Re: .WAV

I would be recording and capturing the voice track in high quality (44100, 16-bit, Mono; or 48000, 32-floating, Mono; something like that. Set in Audacity Preferences, Devices and Quality. Then, after you get done recording and editing and polishing your performance, Export as WAV. This is your edit...

Re: MP3 sound quality problem

<<<this other person does all of those things too>>> I'm betting no. One of the problems with standard Windows® is that 'hide the extension' thing. If you ask any number of Windows users what they have on their computer, they will tell you all about the MP3s they have and enjoy day after day, whethe...

You need a cable from the Line-Out or Tape-Out of the amplifier connected to the Line-In of the computer. So that could be two strikes right there. If the amplifier has no Line-Out or Tape-Out, th...

Re: record/playback speed difference

Now the task is to eliminate pieces of the puzzle. Play the sound file back on another computer and measure that. Play it back on a Mac if you can. Now make the same recording using Windows Sound Recorder. Windows Sound Recorder Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment Nobody will be stunne...
